you can buy in to match big stack here, which is awesome and makes the 1/3 play like a deep 2/5.

hero: 35 yo white guy. been playing aggressively in position raising quite a bit. sitting with $1300.

villain: 50ish Asian guy. only played about 2 orbits. not much read Ashe hasn't played many hands.

V makes it 15 UTG. folds around to hero who makes it $50 on button with KK. folds around to villain who makes it $100 all day.

hero?

***this is my 1st post trying to explain a given hand so Plz let me know what other info would be usefull.

So we know you have 1300....what about the other guy?

If he has $300 get it in if he has $5000 call and play post flop

Well I think 5betting this deep is bad, it narrows his continuing range down to the only thing that's beating you, so I'd call the 4bet, keep AK in his range, and play poker in position.

Without any read on villain the minimum 4 bet is painful. It could be AA trying to suck you in, or AK/QQ/JJ trying to find out if you have AA or not. Given stack sizes and that you have position, I like flatting and seeing flop.

so, I flat the 4 bet honestly thinking he is on the AA. flop reads A47 rainbow. he checks to me...I check behind. turn comes 9, completing the rainbow. he leads out for $40.

the rest of this hand history isn't as interesting as I tell him set of aces is good and muck. he in turn shows the courtesy to confirm the obvious.

I want to start participating more often and tapping into the collective perspective of this forum. I have learned a lot from trolling your threads for a long time and for that I am grateful.

What do you mean by, "all day"?

Do you mean he's been 4b all day?

Do you mean that his sizing is $100 every time he 3b/4b?

What is Hero's 3b range?

Can Hero call the 4b to set mine? (Hint: answer is yes.)

Please tell me you did not fold KK here for a $40 bet in to $200. Could be AA/AK, but I see this with smaller pairs all the time. If he is truly an over aggressive player like you say, then I'm fairly comfortable getting it in preflop here. Against more straightforward players I would probably just quietly fold. Otherwise if you flat you will likely end up facing a big bet on a low flop asking yourself the same questions you were $50 ago, with no new real information.

On a side note my casino also offers the 1/3 "match the stack" game. It runs so rarely though, usually only a couple times a year. I hope to play it some day. Sounds awesome.

I did fold here. I wouldn't always but i smelled aces here which is the only reason I just called the 4bet pre. I would usually prob 5 bet in this spot and reevaluate if he comes back over the top.

I just happened to be right but it was read oriented (even tho I didn't have much to go on tbh)

***also I did not say he was over aggressive. he hadn't been playing long and hadn't played a significant hand yet

by "all day" I just meant $100 total. $50 on top of my $50 3bet
