Just curious what all of you would have done in these positions I was in tonight.

V1 - sat down about 20 min earlier hadn't seen him play any hands so assuming nit
V2 - was at table about 6 hours and seemed to be a reg (knew a few people by name as well as dealers).. older man played a wide range nothing better than a semi average player seemed like no regard for position or stack sizes Level 1 thinker
H - Viewed as semi LAG raising wide on button and CO etc

1/3 $300

H $265
V1 $325
V2 $400

H dealt KJ

Limps to H in CO Raise $12
V1 on BTN raise $25
V2 in SB flats
H flats

Flop 10 Q 7 rainbow

V2 Leads out $75
H Flats (Should I have shoved here?)
V1 Shoves
H Calls -???

Also, in a previous hand with V2

V2 250
H 375

H on BTN with K10 raise to $12
V2 flats from MP

flop 6 A 7

V2 checks
H bets $20
V2 Shoves
H Calls -???

pot odds are your friend...learn about them

In both hands you most likely were behind whomever shoved all in otf, so:

In Hand 1, a straight most likely would have been the nuts and you were getting the correct pot odds to call (even better if V2 tags along) the All in bet so a call here was OK.

In Hand 2, a flush most likely would have been the nuts but unfortunately you were not getting the correct pot odds to call the All in bet so this should have been a fold.

Hand 1:
I wouldn't even have called the 3-bet, yes only min raise but you are likely very dominated.
Flop:fold to bet of $75. Yes at that time you were getting the correct odds (2:1), BUT V2, the initial 3-bettor, has not even acted yet, and you can almost guarantee that you are hearing from him. With his shove, you are not getting the odds to call anymore. He may also be holding blockers to your outs, giving you even worse odds.

Hand 2: Fold. terrible odds.

On the flop, pot = $24+blinds = $27
You bet 20, pot = $47.
V2 shoves for (250 - 12 =) $238 more, so it'll cost you $218 more to call.
Pot is $238 + 47 = $282

In the BEST case scenario, assuming he has no blockers, no redraws, your chances of hitting the flush is 9 outs twice, about 37%. You need about 1.7:1 to call off, so the pot needs to be about at least 370 for you to break even making that call on a long term basis.

Furthermore, if he's shoving with the ace high flush draw, then you are pretty much drawing dead already.

Like a previous poster said, you need to learn about odds. This math is easily done, I spent the time doing it here this time for the sake of demonstration, so you can't say you don't know how next time.

I don't think calling the first hand to the minraise is that bad as long as we have the discipline to fold top pair hands. I'm just dumping it though. V2 is yet to act and there's a good chance 1 or 2 of our A's are in play.

Hand 2 just snap muck to the ship. You have max 9 outs, possibly 9 considering As pairs the board and aren't getting even close to the correct odds to profitably draw.
