8-handed loose/passive 1/3 table

V seems to be a very straight-forward passive, limp/folding a lot, playing ATC, hitting gin, not folding bottom 2 pair to shoves OTR, and holding up, etc. Views Hero as tight, winning reg.

OTTH... $300 eff

V raises to $10 UTG, call, Hero calls with J8 OTB, SB calls, fish in BB calls

Flop ($50): AJ8
V bets $15, fold, Hero raises to $50, fold, fold, V calls

Turn ($150): 4
V checks, Hero checks

River ($150): 3
V moves all-in for $150, Hero folds

Is flop raise too thin? Put V on Ax mainly so didn't raise too big OTF, also hate calling vs that bet size.

Turn, nothing worse is calling vs me and I expect him to check river with all Ax and never bluff.

River, looks like hearts only.

I would have thought, raise UTG here that he had AK and you had him beat at showdown

J8s is a bit of a dubious call this shallow against a tight raiser UTG, but whatever.

Rest of hand is OK I think, it's a bit hard to tell though because your description of him is "passive, limp-folding a lot" in which case it's hard to put him on a hand. He should be tight for his raise UTG, but then it's hard to identify a hand in a tight range that plays like this postflop. I guess KQ of hearts or something? AK hearts or AQ hearts would ship it on the flop, surely.

I think he raises bigger pre with AK. The $10 UTG raises are more indicative of small/medium PPs, and suited broadway connectors type of hands IMHO.

Also, he's never ever ever shoving AK on the river.

Preflop is little loose. We're getting a good price, and have good position, hopefully this passive guy has a big hand raising in EP, and hopefully the fish in the blind comes along. But our hand is quite speculative. A while ago I was quite positive I want to go very multiway with this hand (better preflop immediate odds, easier getting in big money when we hit, more chance of one of our opponents paying us off, etc.), but now I'm not as sure about this due to RIO. Either/or, I don't think calling or folding is horrible.

Tricky spot on the flop, imo. The passive guy who raised preflop is now continuing into the world. Which means we crush his minimum holdings of AK/AQ, and are crushed by his maximum holdings of AA/JJ/AJ. SPR is 6. Will he stack of with AK/AQ? Would he bet lol $15 into $50 with a set on a drawy board? I think it is really read / opponent dependent on whether we want to raise now to setup a play for stacks, or whether we should just call and evaluate.

Looks like we raised the flop to play for stacks. If so, I might continue with that plan on the turn. Does a passive guy really open KQhh/etc. in EP and then bet his draw? I guess he might. Otherwise, decent chance his A has a kicker that has a flush draw (he is not folding TP~TK + flush draw). If our plan was to play for stacks on the flop, I think I continue with that plan by betting again here.

As played, I'm fine with our river fold. A passive guy is never doing this with AK (no flush).

If this is our read, then I'm cooler with our turn check back; his preflop/flop sizing really indicates more a hand like KQhh.
