Flop ($195) J42 one club. Villain checks. I laugh to myself. Limper now leads $10. I laugh again to myself and call. Villain slides out a stack of red. Limper calls all in for less and I insta muck. Villain surprisingly has AA and I'm sad I didn't get to see the turn for free. Limper has TT and villain holds.
On to the hand...
I am the effective stack with just over $400.
There's a limp and I raise UTG+1 with QQ to $15. One fold and villain three bets to $50. Folded to me and I call.
Flop ($100) J86 all clubs. I have the queen of clubs. I check. Villain bets $60. I call.
Turn ($220) offsuit 9. I check. Villain checks.
River ($220) pairs the 6. Final board J8696 with three flopped clubs. Check check and I'm good.
Standard play is to check and pray he checks behind and happily get to showdown. Afterwards, I was thinking if a blocker/smallish value bet might be better. Villain can still easily have us beat and might bomb the river after we check again. If we bet $50-$75, there's a zero percentage chance we're good if villain raises. We can have JJ and 88 in our range for sure.
Although his most likely hand now is AK, maybe if we make it even smaller, like $30, he could hero us?
Thoughts???
FYI for the first hand calling 65 with JTss on a 300 stack is horrible .
2nd hand yes I'm definitely betting for value !!!!!! Like you said if you get raised you know your beat and you would call a bet of 100 so might as well bet it yourself !
I bet 100.
