Hi all,

V1: he’s a reg don’t know him too well. Seems like an okay player. He has 275 to start

H: young guy. I cover. Playing really tight overall

OTTH I open 6s6d in cutoff for 10 button calls V calls BB

(31) flop 10s6h4s

Checks to me I bet 15 Button folds V calls

(61) turn Jc I bet 35

He snap calls

(131) River 2d I bet 110 he ships it

Thoughts on the entire hand?

Going bigger pre, flop, and turn to make it easier to get stacks in. We lose to 53; bravo if he has it.

What do you guys think on river sizing?

Against a solid thinking player is a pot sized bet appropriate? I think it is I could have missed spaces

Not a ton of hands I’m gonna triple barrel here

In general against the 1/3 population I think we can bet like half pot to 3/4 and get called by 10x

Well, given we didn't play to get stacks in by the river, shoving this river now with a 1.64 SPR is probably a little optimistic, so I don't see a problem with your sizing, AP

You can also overbet about 1.5x on turn to have more fold equity for your bluffs and to make it easier to go all in by river. What kind of bluffs would you guys use to balance with the value hands if you were to overbet on turn?

89ss57ssKQss some off suit KQ stuff like that

I think from V’s perspective tho I can arrive on the river with a lot of air balls/nuts sometimes bc I’m not betting AA KK QQ 3x I really only have 1010 JJ J10 and the 66 that are my hands I’m gonna go 3 streets with

It’s gross after he stuffs it tho bc the amount is so small and it’s never a bluff

He might have J10 maybe 44 but I doubt it

We sigh call and lose to 53dd

I'm fine with pretty much anything preflop except for a large raise.

One of the benefits of the small juicing raise is that we can now setup an SPR which makes it possible to play for stacks when we hit our set. The SPR is 8.5, which means we can get stacks in by the river with 3 largish bets. Largish bets on early streets will make this even easier, plus we get max value on early streets where people are more likely to call their still-developing hands, plus board is somewhat drawy. So I PSB the flop; think any other bet size is kinda poor.

Kinda ditto for turn. Thanks to our flop/turn sizing, we've somehow left ourselves with 1.6 PSB left on the river. If we hadda just made 3/4 - full PSBs on early streets we'd have <<< PSB left for the river (setting up a trivial easy peasy shove situation). This really indicates poor bet sizing, especially on the flop with this SPR, imo.

River check/raises are usually nuttish (especially when it's clear we've likely committed ourselves), and we mostly would have heard from a great hand earlier due to the draws (i.e. 44/JJ probably would have gotten more money in on the turn), so the sad fact is this is mostly just 53 and nothing else. But I doubt I'm good enough to fold. But I also would have set things up to be the one shoving a trivial no-more-than-3/4PSB on the river.
