I have about $900 from broken game rungood. 1-2NL Rivers Casino NY poker.
2 EP limps
I wake up to AJo (both black) in MP and raise to $11 (bad??)

every folds

jk

6 way to the flop (both limps call, and a couple more behind me/blinds)

Flop: J 6 5 (two ) roughly $60 in the middle after rake (5+2)

checks to the raiser (hero)
bet $35

LP old blackman white beard (about $350?? effective) calls quick. old nasty looking (fat?) dude with baseball cap (lol his call leaves him with barely $15-20 left...dare I say his name?) calls too - rest fold

turn : 8 (non) (no BDFD either I think....? (main pot is ~$165?)

hatman checks.
I figure I should be ahead of these guys range wise....after all it's live poker (loose games generally) and nobody has shown strength yet. not a lovely turn but dont wanna give free card to FD or worse 1pair hands)
I checkout blackman white beard before making a decision. He is looking away towards TV. no eye contact. acting "uninterested." (typical tell for super strength??)

I fire $62
blackman raises to $125 all day

hatman snapcalls the rest of his $20~

so is this an auto bet on turn or given the uninterested, staring away from the game possible/likely false tell/reverse tell should hero slowdown on turn??

Strange, usually people only give false tells when they're allin or after they raise big. He's repping a set it looks like. I think it isn't a fake tell I'd put him on a set. If he's doing stuff like looking at a tv during the hand he's a bad player, and since he's a black man he's prob not as cautious about being drawn out on. Which is why he's not being super aggressive on the flop with it. Edit: The fact that he's playing a made hand in a trappy way is evidenced by looking away uninterested. I don't think he has any 97 combos because its unlikely for players to chase gutters on wet boards like that. Could also see him having an overpair like KK.

Nvm on the overpair, and a quick call isn't really indicative of playing a set in a trap like fashion (although this is one of my secret weapons I use with trips if my opponent isn't deep stacked). So really I'm not sure what the hell he's got. Maybe setting up a river bluff if he doesn't hit his flush draw. Or maybe hes just a complete fish using a line that makes no sense at all.

The proper question is "have we seen Mr. Look-away" do this before, how does he act with medium hands, how does he act when about to fold when action gets to him, history with him even a few hands.

Absent a read, do we plan on trying for 3 streets of value against all those players with one pair of jacks? Because our flop bet puts the effective stack in play this time, we might consider both the "look away" and the "3-street question" to reinforce each other, and check the turn.

honestly, didn't play anything at all with this guy before hand. I think I saw him bust out and reload earlier in the night like an hour before I showed up to his table when I was at table behind him.

check the turn seems like the first and only suggestion so far. I suppose it's not horrible to play a little pot protection since it's a big pot already and we don't really need to protect much versus the guy from the blinds because he should really never be folding whatever he made it to the turn with already given his pot odds.....

well I bet it for 62 as I said earlier, is that bad???

What is with these descriptions man... Super creepy. Just play good fundamental poker instead of worrying about whether looking at a tv means super strength. Pay attention to the pot size and the cards on board.

Why did you bet less than half pot on the turn? Are you specifically worried about 79? Bet 2/3 pot minimum and charge draws. So many worse hands called your flop bet and did not improve, keep up the pressure. It's so much harder to know where you are because you sized the turn poorly. Here you're just getting too good odds to call but now you're not sure if you're actually ahead or behind.

descriptions are important when discussing a live poker hand, no?

and betting 2/3 pot on turn is like...>$100. Just commit ~1/2 the effective stack with 1 pair here OOP...?? idk seems reckless?

oh I snap folded btw AINEC.

there's nothing worse than AJ that a sane person would raise on the turn here that's not a semibluff/pure bluff....AJ easy fold facing that raise vs. this villain in this spot 100% no question
Spoiler:
shortstack blinds guy with the hat called with 43 and I folded...river is a duece and blackman whitebeard goes to table his 666 set of 6s pocket 6s but just as soon as he rolls it over the shortstack guy from the blinds rolls over the whirlybird straight....PIGEOTO USE GUST!!!

the question was about do we continue on this turn here facing this action 100% of the time? or check is 100% of the time? or so one thing a certain % and the other a different %???

I would prefer betting 40 to 50 OTF. You get plenty of worse hands to call in this environment. All the worse Js,77-TT(don’t be surprised if someone shows up with an overpair) all FDs, (short stack is likely putting the rest in with a 5,6 or either of the oesds. ott you can check back for pot control and if checked to otr you can go for another street of value. If he leads into you otr then we have to evaluate based on sizing and other live tells but most likely it’s a call
