Just switched tables, and a few leave as it is 6:30am. Playing 4 handed - villain is a friendly reg. Very strong, we were openly talking strategy. He is a middle aged white guy, wide opener ip, and knows how to use equity to push people off hands (we were just talking about how deep stacks are great for this). We have battled before, and I picked off a huge bluff where he check raised me allin for stacks in our last session. In short span, we we were raising each others blinds fairly liberally.
OTTH
Villain has us covered
Hero ($520)
- mp limps, villain otb raises to $9, sb folds, hero (bb) 3bets to $50 with AhJc.
- Mp folds, villain takes a bit looks like he is considering mucking but flats.
Flop $103: 7dJhJs
Hero leads $40 villain calls
Turn $183: Kd
Hero checks villain leads $100 hero calls
River $383 Qs
Hero checks villain $220 Hero: ??

I'm calling. Your 2 checks show weakness/your hand is under repped and his range is much wider than the only hands that have you beat.

Given the way you played this hand, I'd shove here. But I think I would have bet more on the flop and put in a large bet on the turn. Probably $75 on the flop and $200 on the turn.

As played, I shove. If you are beat, it's a cooler.

Call river. Q is terrible card for you and a lot of his bluffs/weaker Jx/floats got there
Rly dont like much worse calls if you jam. His range otr is pretty polar as well, he’s not betting K5s or w.e for value. He’s either bluffing/turning sdv into a bluff or is betting trips+ (given dynamics you beat very few Jx). Imo shove is rly bad. 109s/A10s/FH he should have a lot of here and whats he caling worse with >50% that justifies a shove? Even vs his weaker trips i see him folding a dec amt (that doesnt make bluffing random hands here good though)
Tbh i think turn is fine vs a LAG. His turn betting range is a lot wider than his turn call range. Flop size also fine

It's a call for me. If you jam, what is he calling with that you beat? Maybe JT, but that's about it. Considering how aggressive he is, I don't think you can find a fold. This seems pretty straight forward to me.

Yeah my thought process with the check on the turn was that I hit the top of his calling range (Ax-small pps, random float hands), and betting two streets looks very strong likely would fold out even all of those hands/weaker Ks. Also best with this player type to try to get him to turn his hands into bluffs/try to take down the hand without going to showdown. Lastly, I put him on a very wide range through the entire hand.
Results: I just called riv because I didn't think anything that I could beat would call jam. To my surprise he turned over a boat (77).
