Hero holds 7 4 in bb (250$)
V1 is on the button (300$)

limped 6 ways to hero, hero checks

flop ($14) 7 4 3

SB checks, hero checks, EP checks, MP bets $10, HJ calls, CO folds, V1 calls on the button, SB folds.

Hero checkraises to $55, folds all the way back to V1 who comes over the top to $120.

What do we do here? Hero has an aggressive image but V1's usually tight-passive. This guy's not like 80 years old or anything, we think V1 is a thinking player and we've seen him c-bet bluff and the like but definitely not too often, he doesn't PFR a lot and we haven't seen him raise someone postflop ever. I'm not loving my hand anymore in this spot, we made a very strong move and he made the strongest move in the book, my decision at these stack sizes is basically AI or fold. Because he was on the button I think I can still give him the hands that beat us even though he just called, I think he could've planned to raise the turn with 56 or a set but we came in and now he changed his plan. Do we not go broke in a limped pot or are we all-in if he has it he has it?

I think you played it fine when he raises you, you should lean on letting it go. Smells like a set or straight. If you were gonna go any further w this hand it's gotta be read dependent

Lead flop - check raise is not good

I’m curious to why V1 calls the original $10 bet by MP on flop then, 3bets your $55 reraise. Smells like he has set or straight. Maybe nut flush draw. Being tight passive I could see him limping in with AKs/AQs on button

Your line looks OK. I would let this go unless you think villain can turn up with an over pair putting you on a draw. If that is the case then this is a judgement call.

this V doesnt strike me as the guy who would have a big overpair here, although I've seen him limp pocket 8s pre with 1 guy who limped ahead of him I think he'd open a big pair most of the time with a lot of limpers in front of him, there was a hand where I saw him bet pre and then c-bet an A high board and then check down a blank runout and lose to AJ and I felt like he had QQ or KK there.

however he can def have hands like A3ss A5ss A6ss for example here, the question is would he raise those into my big checkraise, and my answer to that is probably not unless he put me on a draw too, but that's really hard to do if he actually does have the draw.

ultimately considering both of those things I let it go, and he showed me K6ss for one of the hands we were in good shape against, but I really felt like he's gonna turn up with 56 most of the time that he makes that move. I guess he did it because he didn't have the A of spades so that's a lot more draws I can have and because he's blocking 56
