Maybe she is, and maybe not. As for this play you mention, I'd like more context here. Was she calling with Third Button on a flop that missed a Big Slick played by someone ahead of her? That would make sense if she did.

Here, check the river. Either she has nothing, having missed the flush draw, and you won't get any more into the pot with a bet. Betting here just allows her to raise for value if she made a straight, or has your TP outkicked, or to represent and put you to a pure guess as to whether she's bluffing or not.

The hand was A3o on a K3xx board with a preflop raise in front.

c/f or c/c?

In that case, c/c the river. Give her a chance to make that desperation bluff. Calling Third Button in that situation makes no sense. It would be different if the king wasn't up.

AT is probably going to be the bottom of my value betting range here, unless villain is super stationy.

Bet $25. If she is as bad as you say, you are greater than 50% against her calling range. She probably won't bluff here often enough to make check/call good here. Dont kick yourself if you run into KT. Thats near the top of her range. I don't want to give her a chance to check back her whole myriad of 2nd/3rd pair hands.

If the J didn't hit ott I'd definitely be betting otr. But when the J hits, T9 is the hand we're targeting. If you're going to bet you need to bet small enough to make sure T9 can call, whatever that amount is, even if it's just another $20-$25 like Koss said.

This is razor thin if it worked.

Re: 1/2 Thin river practice

I just don't see the value as played. OP bet hard on the flop and turn. There is no hand worse than yours that is going to call. If she had 8x, she's got 3rd pair and is never going to think she's good. Busted draws won't call.

I'd bet small on the river and hope for a raise or a fold. If raised, easy fold. I'm more protecting my image by not letting people see I double barreled with second pair.
