Hero is playing 1/2NL saturday night/sunday morning in an underground cardroom and down to his last buy in and has decided to stay until the table breaks. The game has progressively gotten worse because a lot of the bad players have busted and gone home but theres still a few fish left. OTTH

Hero is $100 effective in the CO with black 99
V1 is in bb. When the table was 6 handed villain straddled and called a raise with 94o hit trip nines and doubled up. I view him as a bad lagg.
V2 is in hj. Loose passive OMC
V2 limps hero raises to 20,both call
964hhd 60 dollars
Both players check to hero, who jams for 80 more.
What do you think of this overbet i think the times a smaller set or combo draw calls me makes up for the times i miss value with the weaker parts of villains range.

Hand 2
Hero is $90 effective on the btn with TT
Villain is in the hj
V1 raises to 12 hero 3bets to 30
KJ9ddx 60 dollars
Check check
Turn 6x
Villain bets 30 hero folds
I feel like tens is a bad hand to 3bet when this short. I dont really want my bet to get called on boards like
This or an boards with all undercards. Maybe if i had been deeper i would have went for a double barrel but any bet would have commited me when i could be against sets over pairs and better draws.

Hand 3
Hero is $120 effective in BB with 57dd
V1 is on btn. lag reg i see him everytime i play and here him talk strategy at the table but ive seen him spazz out every now and again
V1 raises to 5 hero calls
K57dxx 10 dollars 2way
Hero checks villain bets 7
Hero raises to 20 while talking to him about how much i want him to fold, viain says just cus you didnt say please and reraises to 40.
Hero says please fold and jams all in.

OP, please don't mix BBs and $s in your posts. It gets very confusing. I edited for clarity.

Hand one is fine.

Hand two, three bet bigger. AP, c/f is good. Board smack V's range.

Hand three, fold or three-bet pre. You are not deep enough to call with a suited gapper OOP. AP, shut up post. Rest is fine.

Hand 1
Don't we want to get value from flush draws gutter balls and two overs that peel. I wpuld rather bet small or check. Let them catch a pair then stack them. If they have a set or two pair u can always get the money in on the turn. When u jam u fold out to many hands you can get value from.

Hand 2

Once you 3 bet you are pretty committed to the hand because you put over 30 percent of your stack in pre. For this reason I would flat or jam if their was a few callers *****ween.

Hand 3

I would fold pre but it's not bad to call.

As played it's find

Hand 1: Shove is fine, either villains have a hand to play or they don't. The board is too wet to risk a check. The smallest reasonable bet is half your stack so any bet entirely commits you to the pot.

Hand 2: Played OK. You got a terrible board and just have to give up if you don't hit the turn. With only one over card and otherwise safer board you could commit but this is just too ugly.

Hand 3:Fold preflop. With nobody else in your hand isn't worth playing. What have you seen for his min raises in the past? There are some I could find a fold when he min raises but mostly I'm moving in against a lag.

Hand 1 is good. We can get called by lots of worse still given the bet size.

Hand 2 is fine. Good 3 bet (is a bit small), but tough board.

Hand 3 fold pre. Raise the flop bigger when you check raise. All in is fine. Table talk like that is stupid and never balanced.

+1 to Garrick/Quad J/Iraise

Don’t talk when you have a nutted hand unless you think they are about to fold.

Are there a lot of these card rooms in Dallas? These are like home games or actual establishments? Do they have stakes higher than 1/2?

Hand 1 betting less is better, I get that hero is pot committed but sizing still matters

I prefer 40 to 80, and would consider as low as 30

They are in between. Some are in homes and some in rented spaces. They tend to be an open secret. There were some openly operating "membership fee clubs" in Dallas, but they closed down under threat of prosecution. It's still not clear if that model is legal in Texas, and none of the owners wanted to be the test case in the courts. From what I hear, most of them were previous underground game operators and they just went back underground. Games definitely get bigger than 1/2.

For more info, check out this thread.
