Hey,

I ran into this situation tonight and I wasn't really sure what to do when the villain monkey shoved his entire stack in on the turn for almost 2x the pot. Just wondering what my thought process should be with this board and flop action.

Hero- Been playing pretty tight and hadn't shown down anything since sitting down at the table about 30 minutes earlier. I had maybe played one hand before this and called a pfr with a pp and folded the flop when i missed my set.

Villain 1- Pretty fishy. Late 50's to early 60's Asian. Had been chasing every draw and was calling down whenever he got a piece of any board. Hadn't seen him do anything too crazy other than just calling down with straight plus flush draws and 2nd pair till the river.

Villain 2. Pretty laggy but solid player. Hasn't seemed to get out of line and plays well as a lag.

Effective stacks were $200.

PF-
Villain 2 raises from mp to $6.

Hero OTB flats with 66 and Villain 1 in BB calls the extra $4.

Flop ($19)

AK6

Villain 1 Checks, V2 cbets $10

Hero Makes it $30.

BB cold calls the raise and V2 folds.

Turn ($89)

T

Vil 1 Shoves for $160.

Hero tanks then ????????

My thought process was that he was only doing this with the flush. He might have hit the gutter QJ straight and less likely could have shoved two pair. However, I feel like he's not monkey shoving almost 2x the pot without a close to nutted hand. Are we always laying down a set here? Or do you think were good? Should I have the raised the flop even more given the fishy tendencies of V1?

Thanks for your help,

You said he has been calling down a lot of draws and 2p type hands. So this shove definitely is not calling down... Therefore I gotta believe he hit something. Both draws and TT got there. This looks like "omg I gotz da nutz" type action.

Is he really gonna spazz shove with AT here with a flush and straight on board? That doesn't sound like his MO from your description.

You have invested $36 into this pot. I would have a hard time calling $160 to win $250 with one card to go.

You're only beating 2p type hands, and your own reads are that he calls down those type hands, not open shoves them.

I'd let this one go

As far as sizing, I probably would have made it $18 pre...calling such a small raise pre is asking for trouble

Ap I think flop raise is ok maybe go a little bigger like 35-40

What do You think would for the major chunk of BB range to flat pre and cold call and raise of the cbet from you? What hands do we think would cold call not worried about the initial raisers possible 3!? Guess it should be a lot of KhXh or some JQhh or some very passively player AK with K being a heart.. Having said that, it's nothing new to see players shove top two pairs which turned a flush draw.. Barring this hand I don think Villain is ever spazzing here..

Considering these facts I find a fold..only because he cold called a raise oop..
Hope this helps

Flop raise size is fine. We're trying to extract value from V2's Ax hands, and 30 is plenty high enough to get stacks in by the river. We don't want to make it too easy for him to fold top pair. Though, given that V2 is a decent LAG and we've been nitting it up, it's unlikely we're getting much action from him regardless.

As played, turn is a super easy snap fold against V1. We're drawing to ten outs ~always.
