1/2 $300 max buy-in

Wednesday 6 pm

Hero: mid 20's white male. Been at the table for an hour and haven't had a hand to raise or limp. I've only played one hand besides this hand and I took it down preflop. The table has been very limpy and most pots haven't been very large. Stack $290

Villain: 50's older male. I've seen him before and know he's a reg, but I don't know his game all that well. I'd say he's plays pretty ABC, as I haven't seen him get out of line or anything. I was at a table with him one time before and I noted, unlike other older players, he's not afraid to bet big or call big bets relative to the pot. Stack $220

On to the hand!

UTG limps, UTG+1 limps, UTG+2 limps, MP limps, Hero raises to 15 with QQ in CO, folds to Villain in SB who calls, BB calls, and all other limpers call.

Note that everyone is surprised to see so many callers, especially the player to my left. For some reason he felt the need to exclaim that this was my first hand and everyone should watch out.

Flop: T83 (pot ~$105)

All check to Hero who bets out 60, Villain calls, rest fold.

Turn T836 (pot ~$225)

Villain checks, Hero...?

b/d turn and check behind river if he checks again.

Given stacks, we don't really have any choice but to shove here, and just hope he doesn't have a set/flush. Given that he isn't afraid to call PSBs, that might possibly hint at stationy tendencies, so I would expect Tx to call a decent amount of the time. Especially TxX.

JJ is also a possibility, and T9 probably isn't folding either.

It's a very close spot, but if we check and a heart/A/K falls on the river and he has Tx then we no longer have a chance to get his stack, whereas we're probably getting it in against his flushes and sets regardless.

the reason why there are so many callers to the flop is the raise is not large enough. don't be afraid to pop it given all the limpers.

the ratio of your stack on the turn to the pot is so awkward. if you were to shove, you are probably only getting called by something better, or some nonsense like a 10 with a big heart that just can't fold.

any bet on the turn makes you pot committed. i'm not committed in your situation, so i check behind on the turn.

Raise 30 pre because of limpers
3/4 to full pot size on flop
If someone stays with you, check back turn and hope he checks on river, if so check back.
Fold to a big river bet, but consider calling a small one if your opponent is capable of bluffing a missed draw

If the other limpers have stacks of ~200 or less on the flop I like a shove right away - Ts will have a hard time folding, there are likely multiple draws with that many people, and many turns will make the hand difficult for you.

As played cross your fingers and shove. His flop calling range includes a lot more than the hands that just got there; and if he didn't have a draw before, there's a good chance he does now. Protect what's likely the best hand, and avoid a tough river decision.
