I'm a tournament player, busted early so sat at a cash table (i've played both live and online cash, but not at this casino), and i was clearly fresh meat for a table of regs. (Hero white 30s long hair casual, table mostly Chinese 40-50 yr olds, standard for here.) I was getting 4-6 callers w even utg raises. Just lost a medium pot AK TP vs flopped set. Here I had QQ utg+1, raise to $10 (local standard), 5 callers, JJ7 flop. Flop checked all the way around, blank on turn, bet 20, raised to 40, call. River another 7, I check, bet is 35. Online I'd expect this line with a wide variety of PP even Ax hands, occasionally Kx float/bluffs vs newbie. Live, is my overpair toast? I'm thinking, if I call and lose 2 streets, well that's prob not too bad; is that a big leak? TYIA.

If raising to 10 is getting you 4-6 callers, raise more.

First off, you're probably giving your opponents way too much credit. I doubt they're that good. 40-50 y/o Chinese guys like to gamble. That's why they're all calling your pf raises. I doubt it's personal. I doubt you're a target.

There's a big difference between $1/2 pre-flop raises and tournament pf raises. The size can be MUCH bigger in cash games. There's a recent thread on how many callers is ideal. Either way, you should be raising more for value with QQ.

Bet the flop. QQ is likely good. Guys will call you with gutshots and underpairs.

Min raises on the turn are usually very strong in live games, but not always.

You're probably beat on the river. This line wreaks of either a jack or a set that hit the "blank" card on the turn. With that many people seeing the flop, the odds of someone having a jack are pretty decent. You're getting ~4 to 1 on your money, so it's probably pretty close whether to call or not.

Guys will never have Kx and be floating here. If you're good, you'll probably see a hand like TT or 99. In LLSNL, you're probably beat in this spot though. The small river bet is pretty tempting. With that bet size, it's almost a coinflip whether I call or not. I'd base my final decision on any little piece of information I had on the villain.

I definitely don't see any big leaks in the way you played the hand. I think you played it fine.

Bet flop, fold to turn raise (unless you have reason to believe villain is randomly bluffing here), fold river.

I think that your logic might be off because you feel you're out of your element being a tournament player. People are calling your UTG raise of 10 because: 10 is not so big in live 1/2, many are positionally unaware so don't weight your range differently when you're raising UTG, and the rest feel they have "lol pot-odds ATC" by the time it gets to them and there are already 2-3 callers. Exploit your value hands and their lack of poker skill, and make it 15-20 to go, and get the 1-2 callers you want, who have no business being there by the flop. Outplay, collect money. Easy game.

Tx guys. I'm actually comfy in cash games, only switched to tourneys 3-4 months ago. I'd had 3 recent EP hands, went in with a raise and got 5-6 callers every time. Everyone else at the table got the 1-2 you'd expect. So I was on guard. After this hand I just got up and left.

But I agree that I should have switched up and pfr bigger if they're gonna call. I'll remember that for next time. Tx again.
