Alright so it's a bright sunny day sit down at the 1/2 Poker table and fold the first couple hands.
On the third hand however I wake up with pocket QQ
I am in MiddlePosition sitting with $196 chips
First players all Limp until Villain sitting to my direct right
Raises to $10 he has about 260$

I call....
Everyone else folds it's HEADS UP.

FLOP 5s 8h Jd

VILLAIN CHECKS

I bet 25$ (I am thinking he has some AK At bottom pocket pairs.

He takes about 20 seconds then calls (this surprised me I was almost certain he was going to fold)

TURN is Js
He bets 75$

He does have jacks sometimes but to me this looks way too bluffy, why not get that FLOP if he had jacks

I take a minute and decide on a call at this point I am sitting on about 100 $ in

A RIVER is the Kh he goes all in
Hero??

Why are you posting this in two different places?

My advice would be to post this hand in BBV. That is the forum for discussions about variance.

You can't RAISE after he checks on the flop. You can bet, but it's definitely not a raise since the action before you was a check.

I like your read that he doesn't have a jack in this spot (why would he bet a jack on the turn when you showed some aggression on the flop??). Why not push back here if you truly think your queens are the best hand? Calling off half your stack (you called 75 with 161 in your stack) there puts you in a weird spot on the river. I see nothing wrong with jamming back if you truly believe he doesn't have a jack.

On the river, you're only beating a bluff. If he has AsKs, he hits a king and you're beat. If he somehow donk bets a jack on the turn, you're losing to trip jacks. If he flopped a set of 8's or a set of 5's (and turned a full house), he might have bet the turn hoping you'd shove back with Jx because most 1-2 players aren't folding any trip jacks on that turn (and probably shouldn't be folding).

You're basically only beating a hand like 9s10s or some other draw that missed. What's your info on the player? I know it's early in your session. Does he seem like the type to bluff a missed draw or does he give up? Most 1-2 players don't have the heart to barrel the river with nothing after you call 75 on the turn. I understand you've put $110 into the pot and only have $86 left, but I really don't see what you're beating on the river.

Pretty gross getting 3:1, but this would have to be one weird bluff. Yeah we've out in half our stack, but I can barely find anything we beat. It also looks like we have Jx tbh. V definitely could have weirdly played 55/88/AJ/KJs-JTs iyam.
