I was consistently raising $12 preflop, but everyone calls. Then I tried $14 and same thing. The other day I moved to 16 and still everyone calls who had previously limped in. It seems that it's impossible to move people off their hands preflop if they have already limped in.
Its not just 1/2. You even have 10/20 live games that play like 1/2 preflop(courtesy of limon). Don't worry about the number of callers. You are not getting through the field without seeing a flop in live poker. They didn't travel to the casino to sit there and fold. Take that into consideration before complaining.
Your raise should be creating a dynamic you are most comfortable with. Take them to value town postflop and please don't pay off the draws on later streets.
Value bet, value bet and value bet.
