effective stacks 120.
V straddles for 4 on the button.
3 folds one call hero calls

V raises to 20. Fold

Folds. You're not getting the odds to set mine and your 2's aren't going to be winning a lot of money OOP otherwise. Conventional wisdom is that you're looking for something like 15 or more times the bet left behind. On top of that, you're OOP, which will make winning all of his monies harder even if you do flop well.

Even without knowing table dynamics, this is a pretty easy fold. Profitably set mining is difficult enough as it is with short stacked 1/2 tables. Add to that a 5x raise in a straddled pot OOP and this is a fairly trivial fold.

It probably isn't worth calling the straddle in the first place, your hand can't take any heat. Once you confirm villain is passive and doesn't raise his straddle a lot it's OK, but a lot of villains that straddle are too aggressive.

In any case, trivial fold to the raise.

Re: 1-2 pocket 2's in a straddled pot

I fold. I want to be able to make 15x my money on a call [in a raised pot] to set mine with small PPs, to cover those times I pay & miss, or lose.

If Hero is the one that's $120 deep, then Hero tops off his stack pre-hand. As played, easy fold to the raise, you're not deep enough to set mine here (you should be looking for at least 12x implied odds to do so).

Re: 1-2 pocket 2's in a straddled pot

if you thought it through you would have folded pre flop.

pairs, suited cards, and high cards all look good but each has many spots where they are in a bad spot. you have to learn to recognize those.
