1-2 home NL game. villain is an avg player, no specific reads. villain see me as a good player.
hero stack- 250, villain stack- 190.

folded to hero, raise to 5 with A K villain SB call BB fold.

flop A Q 8 , villain check, hero bet 8, villain calls.

turn: 2 villain checks, hero bet 20, villain calls.

river: J villain check, hero?

i bet big because i didnt want to give him a good price to chase.
i think there is a chance im getting a call from other aces, maybe even KQ QT, but villain can also have hands that beat me like two pair or an ugly str8.
do u value bet here??

I'd bet big and fold to a re raise. The JT double gutter draw missed as did the flush draw and villain may make a hero call with an A or Q imo, if he thinks your capable of three barreling the flush draw.

In a home game where I expect to see the villain often, I think the +EV play long term is to see what he's playing and check behind. If he called down with A7 or a FD, you'll be able to collect for years.

If I were to see the FD, I might not be as surprised assuming that your villain has a concept of implied odds. A7, yeah, I would be ecstatic. My only concern is that if it is checked behind, wouldn't the hero be forced to show first as the last bettor?

I think B/F 30ish is a good line.

I would need to see some stationy tendencies from villain to bet here. The better villain is, the more likely I am to check. $30 is good.

I agree with the sarcastic comment in its sarcastic context--with AK, your goal is to gain isolation against a single opponent, and although you have achieved it, a raise to $5 at most B+M establishments will get 5+ callers.

In a poker room, yes. This is a home game and it is much more likely to be able to manipulate the caller to show. I admit it depends on the OP status in the game. In the home games I play, I'm seen as the go to person for rulings because people know I play regularly in rooms and on-line. There's a few perks to make up for the obvious disadvantages.

Raise more preflop. River depends on villain -- if he is your typical live player bet 1/2 to 2/3 the pot. You make a lot of money from value betting the river live.

Valuebet 35, see calls from Ax, hero calls frm Qx..since every draw missed, assuming villain thinks u barrel with good draws
