Hero checks. Villain bets $10. Hero ???

Obviously going for the check raise. Question is really about sizing. $35 seems like a reasonable raise. But that still leaves almost 2x pot behind on the turn. Would have to go $55 on turn then $80 shove on river which would be just less than 1/2 pot. I ideally want to get it in by then before scare cards come and kill my action. I expect villain to have an OP most of the time, which he probably won't fold. $50 might be pushing it a little but sets up a closer to PSB turn shove.

I think its fine to go quite big here. $40-45 sounds good to me.

Personally i am going around that big size with lets say a combodraw or the nutflushdraw too, so i like to have some nutted combos with the same sizing as well.

Also ive found over time that many villains is alot more sceptical to bigger sizings, and that bigger raise sizings is inducing/provoking more lighter calls and stackoffs in my experience.

I agree, go big. Even against an inexperienced player, this is a hand that he needs something for you to get paid off on. $40 OTF, $60 OTT, $80 OTR gets all of his money in the pot. Even if a comes, you should be fairly confident going to the mat.

I think a check raise to 35 is fine here. Don't worry too much about the awkward sizing because I doubt villain is thinking too much about it.

For an alternative line, how about call flop, check raise turn and get it in on the river? It probably still is worse, but I think passive recs like this have trouble getting away from hands once money is committed. If he bets something like $20 on the turn you might have a much better chance of stacking him.

40-45 otf, ship turn. Dont like making this a 3 street game vs this player

Except that OP's read is that Villain seems like an inexperienced, passive and possibly scared player. I'd be afraid that $40 is going to get him to dump hands we want him to call.

Hello been reading for several years and appreciate the variety of opinions. it is the seemingly mixed responses based on seemingly inconsistent premises that prompt my questions\post.
OP asks about bet sizing.....we just flopped the nuts! Are we committed to stack off no matter the runout?

If we are the type to pot control and fold/chechback to a single diamond(maybe MUBSY) or board pair or running diamonds then I cr to only $25 hoping for an immediate all in against a set, hitting clean turn to at least 75 and the rest on a clean river. With ability to fold if I get ascared.

Usually I would be in the 45-50 camp and getting the rest in on turn against anything but a paired board.

If I was running good and wanted to advertise to the rest of the table to be wary and be willing to risk my equity in hand, I might just check call flop and turn and check river with the intent to cr

I'm never folding unless there's trips or four diamonds on the river. I'm purely trying to figure out the best way to get stacks in without scaring him off his hand.
