Virtually the same hand popped up twice for me in my last 50 hours and I'm curious how you guys are playing this.

2 limpers, CO makes it $7, Hero calls in SB with red 88 and 3 others call, so we are 5 ways to the flop. Stacks sizes range from $175 to $400, hero covers. Villains are a mix of your loose passive and tight passive bunch with the PFR being a bit of a button clicker.

Flop ($30): AA8. What's our plan of attack?

Whoops meant to post this in the strategy thread. Can a mod move it?

You need to do a better job providing relevant info - like yours and CO’s exact stack. If this isn’t ingrained into your head when posting a HH then you’re probably auto piloting while playing.

Preflop I am mostly 3betting. Winning 6.5 BB’s uncontested is a fine outcome and you can worry about post flop when you cross that bridge.

As played just x/r and GII.

This is less fun to play from the SB but it is what is it is... In a standard 5-way $1/2 game w/ AAX and you flopped a boat in a min-raised pre hand I think I'd go with x/r, b, b line basically on any runout what doesn't have another A or an overpaired board to your 8's. b/b/b can't be that bad either but I assume going 5 ways someone has an A and will pay off yourl milk bets across the board. Should be able to play for stacks here.

must bet out at small stakes here. too many flops will get checked around when they have 3 aces. then it gets too late on 4th to build your pot.

Seems like a really standard check, leading seems quite bad

Waiting on the action to decide on xr or xc, xr looks super strong here so I would normally try to disguise by waiting for the turn and to let overcallers come in with a flush draw or another ax that could get spooked, etc

I would usually lead this. If nobody has an ace or a flush draw you probably can't make much money no matter what you do and those hands are calling flop.

If there is somebody in the hand in LP likely to take a stab with nothing if it checks around then check/calling the flop is OK also.

That's a very small raise at this level, so can't count on the PFR having an ace. I'd lead, if someone has an ace they are calling, hopefully raising. If not, you're likely not going to get value anyway.

Depending on the table dynamic and player pool, this might be a good spot to 3b pre ($45-50). Hand plays poorly post and it's hard to flop a set.

This was my thought completely. I wanted to play for stacks if someone had an ace (or hit their flush draw), and didn't think any reasonable bet would get either hand to fold, at least on the flop.

Flop ($30): AA8 Hero leads for $25. BB calls, UTG+1 calls, other limper and CU fold.

BB starts hand with $400, 60's WG, decent rock
UTG+1 starts hand with $200, 50's WG, very sticky with any piece
Hero covers both with ~$650 and TAG image to both

Turn ($105): AA8 9 Hero??

Bet $90, consider a fold if the rock raises.

With the BB it depends on how tight, passive and how much he over plays AX that isn't a boat. Against UTG+1 call no matter what he does.

Get very worried if both call the turn. You probably can't fold but there is a good chance you will run into A9.

Have the board covered. Tight BB, looks like he has AX. If you think he will bet if checked to, I might check with the intention of C/R and getting the sticky V remaining stack in.
