Villain is a white male in his mid 50s; seems like a typical tight middle-aged player. He hasn't gotten involved in many big pots. His biggest win came when he got a gift-wrapped pot from a fish who recently came to the table. Villain raised a 9-high turn, and the fish decided to turn over his hand (A9) while deciding what to do. He finally called. Then the fish checked the river and called off the rest of his stack (<$100) when Villain bet again. Villain had KK.

BB has 400; I cover.

EP limps, I limp in MP with 55, LP limps, SB calls, BB checks.

Flop (10): A-9-9, rainbow

Checks around.

Turn (10): 5, 2 diamonds.

SB checks, BB checks, EP checks, I bet 10, LP folds, SB folds, BB calls, EP calls.

River (40): J

BB checks, EP folds, I bet 20, BB raises to 50, I ???

Should we ever be reraising here with the worst possible full house?

No. He's not calling unless he has the boat and he raised you on the river. That should tell you he's got something.

As played call and hope for a chop.

Make it $120 and fold to a shove

It's either a call or a raise.
If you raise, we are raising something small, to a total of 80-$110.

Hands that sort of make sense here:
Quads (people love to slow play quads..)
Flushes
9X.
Maybe AJ.
I think he calls a raise with flushes, and quads. There are obv more combos of flushes so I'd raise and fold to a shove.

Agree with wj.

If you make it 80 he probably calls with his flushes and 9s. He'll raise A9, but may even just call with 9J. He doesn't have AA or JJ here almost ever (limped pot). There may be some thin value with clicking it back, but I'd probably just call the 50 and feel I missed value when he turns over his flush.

I think this is just about right. I'm nervous about putting in another raise against a tight player, but since the strength of my hand is concealed, it's quite possible that he feels much better about his flush than he should.

In a strange way, I think calling just to see what hand the villain bet with on the river.

lol...this is about the worst reason I could imagine to factor into any decision.

Easy call.

Raising is ok if we think unknown will stack off with worse, I kind of doubt it but who knows.

Raise/Folding is a bad option with unknowns, again who knows how they value 9x.

I think a raise/fold plan is viable considering I have the worst possible full house and we're each 200+ BBs deep.

Thin value. EZ raise fold. Get called by flushes and a 1-2 9x, get raised by A-9. Your not getting raised by 9x or a flush on this board in 1-2.

There are 14 combos of boats for villain total, A9, J9 or 95. If villain can CR river with a lot of flushes here this is an easy reraise fold to $135. If not calling is fine too. You can flat call regardless, I don't think it's giving up much either way. And villain is never reraising with worse here when your line looks like a boat

I called. He had a queen-high flush. Q7 I think.

From my experience people won't check trips+ more than once multiway especially when a 2flush comes in. It really looks like a flush otr which probably will call a 3-bet if you size it around 140.

pretty standard raise spot. He's calling 100% of the time w/ flushes and 9x. What's w/ all the threads lately where people are like "I don't have the stone cold nuts, villain raised 10bb's, am I ever good????"

I don't think the question people are asking is, "Am I ever good?" I think they are asking, "Can I reraise for value, and will the opponent call a raise with a worse hand?"

In retrospect, I do like the idea of reraising to 125.
