Table just opened 5 or 6 hands ago. Huuuge fish sitting to my left and pretty good playing maniac to my right.

Stacks: Fish ~100, Maniac ~265, Hero covers.

Fish straddles to 6 on the button. folded to maniac in MP who raises to 21. Hero raises to 50 in HJ with KK. Fish calls. Maniac calls.

Flop: 8 6 4

Maniac checks. Hero bets 50. Fish calls all in. Maniac calls then asks if Hero has two red kings? Hero does not respond.

Turn: 8

Maniac thinks for about 30 seconds then shoves for 165.

Hero thinks Maniac's range consists of: 44-QQ, 8x, flush draws

Hero?

stove it

maniac read is not very helpful unless you explain how he's a maniac.

Really don't like betting 1/3 pot on the flop unless you're calling any turn bet from the maniac

I also don't believe your hand range for maniac is accurate since he sounds like a decent player, doubt he called flop with 99-JJ very often

what i mean by maniac is that he will overbet a good amount. Raises tons in position with marginal hands. pretty relentless. will 2-3 barrel

grunch: call

villains range is pretty wide there... i would probably make even wider than you did. his 2 red kings comment actually makes me think he may have a K.

i would have c-bet more... even though it was enough to put fish all in.

Raise to $65 pre. Bet $130 otf.

As played, I think u gotta call. His comment ab red kings says QQ to me but that's too specific to place much faith in.

I wanted to keep the fish in the pot. I suppose the difference between 50 and 65 for him might not have mattered. I feel like betting 135 on the flop is losing value / folding out most of the hands we have crushed that might continue.

I think you should be betting between 75-85 otf. By doing this, it will really put maniac to the test with 99-QQ. If maniac has AA, I think he re-raises pre because he knows fish is already committed to hand.

As played, I think its a call. Only hands I think that beat you are flopped sets.

If you made it $65 pre and the fish only calls (hopefully he'd push so you can iso) then you can just open push the flop for around a PSB.

I don't know why we want to raise to $65 and potentially only have the fish call. Having the other V continue for $50 with some marginal holdings is a great outcome for us.

If I raise to $65 it's with the hopes that both of them can still call that bet.

Why do we want to put V "to the test" with 99-QQ? We want to bet an amount that he calls with those hands, not an amount that makes him fold them.

Terrible.

We're trying to get paid by worse hands not fold all of them out.

*Calls*

I expect to see a good number of FDs here, overpairs to the 8's, NEVER an 8, and only sometimes a set of 6's.

He knows that he can't fold out the fish, so he's not on complete air. The speech and the bet all scream "go away", which means that you should probably call.

Agree with Rumor, I don't see any major problems with the flop bet sizing. We want them calling with hands that we beat.

flop cbet size is 1/3 of the pot, actually the exact same size phil galfond chooses when he cbets 3bet pots, and although i think your and his reasoning behind it will slightly differ , i´m not gonna flame you for that.

as played, i don´t give much about his soulread here. call.

I call here. I agree that he's not on air since he can't make V1 fold because he's all in. That is a wicked little speech there though.. But in my experience if he's verbally saying "what you have" then whatever he thinks you have beats him. Not that I think he could think he's really going to get a pair of KK there to fold most of the time. I feel like he's just trying to ISO the short stacked fish with a medium strength hand because he doesn't want to tangle with you.

I remember playing a hand one time and I folded, 2 people were playing heads up, I don't remember all the details but long story short, V1 either check/raises V2 or throws in a large raise to V2's bet, V2 tanks for a bit and says "what do you have.. a set?" then decides to call. The hand gets to showdown and V1 had TPTK or 2p, not a set, I remember that. But V2 called with something DUMB, it was like a weak flush draw or a small pair plus straight draw. I just remember thinking that V2 was a complete moron.. Which was confirmed when he left the table for a few hands to grab his player's card he forgot in the SLOT MACHINE!
