I was playing 1/2 on the waiting list for something else. About 2/3 of the pots were limped pots. I found that ep raises to 10 as an open or after one limper were often taking it down or getting one caller. However, a raise to 7 would usually get multiple callers. So I went ahead and made it 7 as an open or in ep, but 10 or 12 after multiple limpers. It seemed like people interpreted a larger raise as TT+, AK or something, but the smaller raise could be anything, and they were happy to call with suited gappers or whatever. It wasn't ideal if I really had a premium hand playing it 5 ways though. However, it seemed better than maybe taking it down preflop and being sort of face up.

I realize that it depends and sometimes these tables get looser preflop.

Dont let other people dictate your raise sizes. If you want to raise $10-$12 with premiums, than raise $10-$12. If people are folding, start raising more often to that same amount with less than premium hands. Eventually they will start calling and you can tighten back up a bit.

You dont want to be playing 4-6 ways with hands that mostly make one pair just because you're afraid everyone will fold if you raise too large. That's a recipe for disaster.

1/2 usually works better the other way around. Open to 10 in EP so you take it down preflop or get heads up. From LP open smaller to encourage a call from the remaining people after you. If there are already limpers then raise pretty big, a lot of 1/2 players are very insensitive to sizing one they have some money in the pot. In the long run you will have a lot more hands that play better heads up then hands that play better multiway. Don't worry about missing value on your big pairs, in the long run reliably taking the blinds without a flop is super profitable.

You will have to find the exact size that works best for the specific table and situation.

I recommend you to have 3 PF sizings and work your range based on that.

I usually make 4bb (8€) from UTG and UTG +1, ... 3bb (6€) from BTN and 3,5bb (7€) from all other positions.
If we have limpers, I add 1bb x Limpers to my default sizing.

But if the table is oppening larger than usual or having many callers, I open 0,5bb more than the default.

If the table is tighter and oppening smaller, I open 0,5bb less than the default.

It works pretty well for a VPIP around 20-25.
