1-2 nl. No luck with Aces.

This happened to my wife last week and we have been discussing it.

She is on the BB with AA. Two limpers and the SB with a stack of about 250 to my wife's 400 raises to $25. She re-raise to $50 he goes $100 and she goes all in. He calls.

Flop K, Q, 8
Turn J
River 2
Suites irrelevant.

She lost. The question I have is: did she do the right thing going all in or should she just have called his reraise?
In a previous hand with AA she lost to a straight by not making a big raise pre flop so she was kind of burned out.

If he will call, she should raise. Since he called, obv he will call at least sometimes. Shove was correct.

IMO her 3bet should have been bigger.

Anytime you can get it in pre with aces, ship it.
I do agree with Kurt - no need to min raise to $50. Pop that to $100 or so.

I cracked someone's aces last night when he min-raised my raise of 7-8 suited. He advertised what he had, and gave me the odds to stick around with him playing his hand face up.

OP, what, if anything, do you think she should have done differently, and why?

This thread should be popular by the end of the day.
Your wife did the right thing. The only thing I could add here is that after the $25, she should make it more than $50. $70 seems good.
Her game selection is also solid if the table she's at has this type of action with any consistency.

It's never a mistake to get it all in pf in a cash game

i'm having trouble coming up with a scenario in which getting it all in the middle preflop with AA is a bad idea.

Probably.

I think there's a legit discussion about the sizing of her 3bet though. I'll lock it soon if future responses are just "lol" and "fold preflop" etc.

Re: 1-2 nl. No luck with Aces.

I probably make the 3bet $75-80 pre. You don't want to give smaller pockets pairs, suited connectors, etc.. the odds to crack you. Turns out here that it worked out for you in that you were able to get it all in pre, but sometimes this won't be the case. With aces, you ALWAYS want to get all the money in pre. Don't be results oriented when they lose, you are making money in the long run.

Re: 1-2 nl. No luck with Aces.

Getting it ai preflop is obv best. If she got unlucky, thats part of the game. If she made it 50 he called and they got it in post flop with his kq, that is different. Once he makes it 25 she need to make it 75-90 imo.
