Am I pretty much forced to shove here? If he has something like JJ or QQ, it's pretty much a coin flip. But another question I have about this hand is if I should have just folded pre since I'm short stacked. Or is it okay since the table has been pretty passive pre and post flop? Thanks.

Yes you should have folded pre. I'm assuming you are in early position and playing in a full ring game. You can raise the K8 if it's short handed and/or in late position.

IMO when he raises on the flop his range includes more hands that have you in bad shape than hands where you are flipping. I would fold and ask myself why i got 1/4 of my stack involved with K8 in EP. Surely an argument can be made for shoving as well, but I would not.

I'm in the CO, forgot to mention that. Tight players (30 minute sample, but overall tables been nitty and I think it was like 8 handed) to act in BTN/blinds.

I think you just answered your own question. When playing short stacked, you really need to pick your spots carefully and have a good idea of what has to hit for you to go all-in in a situation like this. Leading with K8 is hard to justify and now you are in this situation.

You are invested for 1/4 of stack and are less than a coinflip to win this hand so I let this one go and lesson learned. A case can be made to shove but he is inevitably calling so under these circumstances I fold...
