1-2 nl

Villain is to my immediate right. Been spewing money all night and is $1200-1400 stuck. Lost previous hand and re-bought for $100. He is BB and I am UTG.

While I’m looking at my cards, he bets $20 wtf? The dealer informs him he is the BB and must wait. He pulls it back and posts the $2.

I have JJ and now want to isolate him. The rest of the table will probably limp in even knowing he is going to raise, but I’m only concerned with the TAG reg across the table who will open/ raise if he wants to play hand.

I limp, knowing others will limp/fold when villain raises, I want to see what TAG does and then see what villain does. Three others limp, TAG folds, villain raises to $17.

I’ve played with villain for two nights now, about 10 hrs, and his bets mean very specific hands.

$6 = he has nothing, 72o or something.

$12 = he has JT – AK and big pairs JJ – AA

$17 = he has small pair, 22 - TT

The initial $20 had me thinking 22, but I’m not sure about that. He’s a calling station and I’m sure I’m ahead.

Thoughts?

With a read that specific, and a guy on who's that stuck and on tilt, I think I'd just shove all-in. He doesn't sound like the kind of guy who's going to fold.

So if he's the kind of guy who folds, you just call here? And then get it in on ANY board?

Well you got your wish to isolate and have a read that he has 22-TT, so I'd go ahead and raise to ~55 and call if he jams obviously.

Pretty much what I did....raised to $60, everyone else folded, he jammed, I called.

I kept wondering if I should have just gone ahead and opened for $15-18 the first time rather than limping. But I didn't want to play JJ OOP against a field of callers and I wasn't sure he would raise if I did that.

If you're so sure he's going to raise and there's little risk of anyone else ISO'ing I reckon the limping to allow for more dead money to enter the pot is great.

Thanks guys. It seems simple now, but at the time I got a bit thrown by his out of turn bet and wasn't sure what was going on. Just wanted to check, appreciate the thoughts.
