I was at a brand new casino in NY (Resorts World - Catskills)...lot's of new players and some solid 2/5 types prob waiting for a 2/5 game.

H - $237 on Button

V - $350 and Straddles this hand (Aggressive 20 year old White dude..def knows what he's doing)

Villain straddles and gets a bunch of limps to me on button with Q8I join in and the BB makes it $27 to go. I don't put him on much of a hand because he's oddly done this a few times where he pops it up big on a straddled hand. Prob has A10 or something.

We get 5 callers to me and of course I join in on the button.

Pot - $162 before rake

Flop - 679

BB checks (figured he would) and straddle (Villain) makes it $80. Folds around to me...what do you do here?

I think it's pretty self explanatory but I could be wrong. Curious to see what you guys would do.

AP auto shove but I would have folded to pre-flop action (and then would have had to stop myself from vomiting on the table when that flop came). I just don't think you are deep enough to call $25 even with all the other callers (at least in long term EV space).

25 to win 160 or so, don't you call just for the odds alone? Position def helps lol

TBF, villian is the only one that really had me covered. We were all at about 200-300.

Right and this is the issue. IF everyone had $500 , the sure go for it. But your expected win to call $25 more really needs to be like $350+ (15x on the low side) to make it even a 0 EV call long term.

Hey, I am not saying I haven't made calls like this....we all have (except maybe GG). Just the math says it is a no no.

Probably fold pre both times. preflop isnt horrible but for me this hand is just too weak to play 50bb deep, but I tend to lean on the conservative side.

As played super easy fistpump jam. You probably dont have much if any fold equity but you may actually have greater than 50% equity. Probably not though. He will have a set a lot.

UTG +1 would've been an insta fold lol but I couldn't find myself to fold on the button with 5 callers. 23 to win 140 not terrible

I shove for $210 he insta calls the $130 and shows KJ of hearts lol : /

Turn and River are blanks and he pulls in a $580 pot with King High.

Good times.

Yeah..I think 90% of 2+2 forumers play this the same way. Real Shame how it ended up playing out though.

I mean, it depends on his impression of the other players, but if he thinks he can get players to fold ace-high and one pair hands, then sure! The pot is bloated, he has a solid draw, and the preflop line makes his hand look like an overpair. Might as well maximize fold equity if he thinks the rest of the table is playing weak-tight.
