1/2 NL at my local casino

Hero - $450 - mid 20's white guy, wearing a hoodie and headphones, playing hands very aggressively, have shown a complete air ball bluff where I called a preflop raise, called flop bet, bet turn when it was checked to me, then raised a blocker bet all in on the river...showed the bluff...so V could potentially view me as a "young punk" that is trying to bully the table

V - late 40's/early 50's guy...playing chess on his phone in between hands, seems competent and he is playing tight, folding most hands but coming in for raises occasionally

H is on the button with 44
V is in the BB

EP raises to 12, two calls, Hero calls, V calls

Pot - $60

934

Checks to Hero who bets $35.00

V calls, everyone else folds

Turn - 5

Hero bets $50.00...V tanks for 3 minutes and then ships it for $300~

Hero snap folds

Is this standard? Should I not be betting this turn? I was trying to get value from A with pair type of hands but in retrospect maybe I should have just checked and tried to boat up.

Thanks for any input

Ck back turn IP once the guy flats your sizable flop bet on monotone w 3 players left to act. His range should be extremely strong w Ahx being the bottom which makes me want to bet turn lees when the worst hand in a range can/sometimes will Ck-r me. Rivers should be easy to play. If you were extremely deep you'd have room for a bet-c given IO, but here, Ck back.

I check back the turn. I just don't think he's calling with worse or folding better. He might check/raise with AhXx, but it's rare and good for him if he can -- you can't call. Your small bet on turn might have induced him, too, but still hard for most LLNL players to bluff all-in on the turn.

He called a raise from an EP player when he was oop -- could easily be a suited A, but what range do you give him for doing that?

I actually don't fault you for betting turn, although I think half pot would have been better. Hate to give a hand like TT or AJ a free card when they're oop. Plus V is playing chess on his phone so we'll always know where we stand if he comes to life and raises.

I think this is pretty nice throughout.

I would in general have some 3 bets preflop depending on initial raisers opening tendencies.

I think turn should be slightly more, there's 130 in the pot, betting 50 gives him 3.5:1 on the call, so he'll only need 27% equity and/or very slight implied odds to call here, any naked fd gives him 18% so he can call the 50 and then if he makes 20 or so otr he's fine w any heart besides the 5.

I'd go for like 70 I think.

I don't check turn here though. I think there are plenty of naked fds to charge, and lots of 9xHx where we want some value. The pot is reasonably big, let's not just give him 18% of it for free bc sometimes he has flopped a 5 card hand. I think the turn b/f is just fine here short of a well defined physical tell.

Agree that if I don't check turn, betting more is better. However, the $50 makes me want to fold even more, because H gave V pretty good odds to just call turn with Ah, but he shoved instead -- scarier than the thought that it induced a bluff
