1/2 NL flopped set

Hero: $97
Villain: about $200

Pre-flop
Hero calls $2 UTG with 8s8h
Villain UTG+1 calls and 2 others call

Flop: 8cJd4d

Hero checks, villain bets $6, 2 folds and hero calls

Turn: Qh
Hero bets $12, Villain shoves all in.

Hero?

Re: 1/2 NL flopped set

88 should be a hand we are raising utg.

Any info on villain? If he is a NIT, you might be able to get away.

I would also check turn, hoping to check-raise.

**The problem with limping is you allow such wide ranges for everyone in a multiway pot.

Raise preflop and bet this flop, raise his flop bet and snap call his all in.

Don’t even try to find a way to get away from this hand.

Why are you only playing $97 behind?

Unless you know that the villain would never raise with 2 pair or a lower set, you're calling this.

You want him to think that you're pondering a call, but all you're really thinkin about is Vegas and the f***in' Mirage.

Re: 1/2 NL flopped set

People, please lead a flop like this with a set in a limped pot, especially with 49 blinds. You will lose tremendous value slowplaying.

I am fine with limp pre or raise.

AP, snapcall and dance on the table. I can't believe you even had to think about it.

Re: 1/2 NL flopped set

Also, limping pre is totally fine here in a typical 1/2 game. It has pretty terrible playability unless we flop a set, & are usually getting called in several places + OOP. Unless we were really deep, or feel the need to open our image for some reason, it's even becoming my preferred play tbh. Probably raising 99, but it's close imv.

You have less than 50bb and a set. Never fold.

Limp is OK, but so is raising pre. Bet or raise flop.
