Have just a few sessions live under my belt after 100k break even online hands. I'm in late position and a nine gets exposed and turned into burn card by dealer. I'm in late position. 2 limpers, 1 guy raises to 12, 1 call and I look done at pocket 9s. What's the play? Fold? Call for a flop? No exposed cards online so it made me think.

Eff stacks?? Even with position here this is a fold. You will likely be up against 4 villains post flop and you only have 6% to flop a set now. Even if you hit an overpair, you likely won't win much from a worst hand. It's only 19% for you to hit an overpair

You got lucky, now fold.

Very lucky. I had about 150 behind me and everyone had about the same. I folded. Flop was A93. I was pissed until the opening raiser was upset when everyone folded and it flipped over AA.

Depends to some extent what you mean by "late position" OTB or in the CO I would call. Other than than I probably fold.

If we are going to usually be acting last we have a strong enough starting hand that we should win more than our fair share of pots. 99 is strong enough that, even multiway, we don't need to flop a set to win the pot. If we are better postflop than our opponents there should be enough opporuntities to win pots even without the best hand and get to showdown when we have the best hand.

This is especially true if this is a typical LLSNL game that plays fairly passive in MW pots.

Pretty much the definition of results-oriented.

Your % of flopping a set halve when you see the dead 9, unless you think you can make about 40x the size of the raise if you hit the case 9, fold, and don't care what hits the board.
