This is my first time posting on this site so i apologize in advanced if im not up to date with the format. I played a live game the other night, keep in mind it was my first time at the game, and i have never played with these players before. I realize rite off the bat I am sitting into a warzone. These players obviously all know eachother and chips are swinging left to right it looks like NL omaha.So anyway heres the hand........
V1 straddle to 5
V2 (UTG) Raises 17
V3 (CO) Calls 17
Hero (BTN) Calls 17 with A10 off
SB and BB fold so does Straddle
Pot=56$
Flop- 10h 5d6d
V2(UTG) thinks for 10 seconds and checks
V3(CO) checks
Hero bets 35$
V2(UTG) FOLDS
V3(CO) Calls 35$
Pot=126$
Turn 10c
V3(CO) checks
Hero-(my hand range on him so far is Q9d, Q8d, pocket 7s-9, 87off and JJ) at this point going into the river i didn't want to bet to high to scare off draws because i want max value out of my hand and still will get called by previous hands mentioned.
HERO- bets 65$
V3(CO) thinks for 30 seconds and calls
POT=246$ HERO has roughly 200 behind going into river
RIVER- 8s
V3(CO) checks immediately
Hero- does not like river card but knows there is still value in betting
Hero bets 100$
V3-Goes All In
At this point i shake my head and said i call and shows 47 off suit
I don't think you played the hand that badly but....
How do you range him so specifically on "Q9d, Q8d, pocket 7s-9, 87off and JJ"? Why not KQdd, KJdd, QJdd, Axdd, ... etc?
Based on your range of "Q9d, Q8d, pocket 7s-9, 87off and JJ", then why do you say that that "Hero does not like river card" when the river only improves the pocket 8s to beat you? It seems like this is very inconsistent.
Yes that definitely makes more sense. Thanks for the input. Im a consistent winning player at the 1-2 level and it helps pay the bills but hand reading is something i need to improve on if i plan on moving up in limits. I sometimes tend to put him on hands the way "I" would play them and i overthink because if i had KQ KJd "I" would have re raised the flop. It is def something i need to work on.
