v1, somewhere on the spectrum, limp foldy a lot. about 50bbs

v2, college kid, seems tag pf, haven't played a lot with him, saw some bluffs get called down, also saw him value town some flushes to river, 150bbs

hero, seems tag, doesnt play a lot of hands, raises the hands he does, or limps button sometimes if not raising from there. probably played the least amount of hands at the table and hasn't got to showdown a lot. about 100 bbs

v1 in ep limps as usual. v2 opens for 12 in mp. i raise to 35 on the button w 9h8h. v1 calls. v2 calls.

flop ad7d10c. v1 bets 15. v2 makes it 70.

wat do?

Easy fold. Given the stack sizes and only 8 outs (2 of which are dirty), you can't call. You also can't shove to get either V to fold at this point, since pot was $105 on the flop which left V1 with only $65 back (LOL at his flop sizing) and V2 has just put more than 1/3 of effective stacks against you. If you shove and V1 somehow folds, there will be $355 in the pot with only $165 for V2 to call.

Man, I butchered the hand. I called. Then it went k diamond, x diamond. The only bit of luck I had was it went check check.

No only are the J and 6 potentially no good, you will get stacked by KQ if any J does hit. For all practical purposes, you only have 3 outs (three non-diamond sixes).

Instead of simply going "I HAS OESD!", let's try to put our opponents on ranges...

V1 is supposedly limp-foldy and short-stacked (i.e. potentially fishy), but has limped and COLD CALLED a 3bet OOP. Let's give him a wide preflop range that could be somewhat reasonable (for a fish) of any 2 broadway, any PP. Even if we don't really care about V1's post flop range since he's already pot committed (or should be) no matter his holdings, we still need to worry about V2

V2 is supposedly TAG and called a 3-bet OOP after raising over a limper. Even if we're going optimistically wide, I'd give him something like 77-QQ and JTs+. He might also have AK/AQ and KK+ but I would expect most of those hands to 4bet OOP (and AQ to fold) unless he's trapping.

Against V2's range as described we are a 30% vs 70% dog. We're also only talking about his PF range and have yet to narrow it based on flop action. His raise on the flop just SCREAMS isolation raise against the fish, which means he at least has a pair, which means a T with a good kicker, a strong A, a pocket pair between A & T, a set, or some sort of draw to the nuts.

Yeah. Fell into temporary insanity with the "if I 3bet and then flop the open ender, why would i fold" while completely putting on blinders to all the obvious pitfalls. Thanks.

Nowhere near deep enough to 3bet and it cost you a +EV peel otf.
