Such a tiny bet entices me to raise the flop but I'm ok with calling as long as you don't get weird about your line later. The problem with just calling is a situation like right now. You're underrepped and he's basically unknown. Ill fold to this aggression early. You're probably not improving and you have no idea what's going on.

I appreciate your insight.

I had thought about raising otf but elected to flat based on:
This guy was a mid 40s, assumed to be rec player.
Most rec players have TP/Gk or Mk when leading out.
I felt by under repping my hand, when he has TP, I was more likely to get value ott and otr vs pushing him off otf or ott.

I'm very happy to flat flop. Not looking to build a huge pot. Want to keep ranges wider. Will have to fold to a 3-bet.

You could just bet/fold the turn. Assume his turn check/raise is reliably very strong - ahead of top pair - unless you learn differently later in your session.

Calling turn can't be too bad. It's a small raise and you're getting like 4.5:1. You would have to fold to a river bet of any size, though.

I just fold turn. But think it's ok if you chose to call turn and assess river.

Something just seems off here...I don't know if I believe V's story.

True he is new to the table and we have few reads. But, he donks weak otf and then ck/raises ott to what looks like a brick and we're supposed to believe he has a monster? V led w/ a made flush prev. otr so the ck/raise is inconsistent here with him having a big hand. if V is playing 4 9 sooted (even limping) he probably is pretty loose, maybe a spaz bettor? normally a ck/raise ott is a strong hand but I think I call here and call any V bet otr that is around a pot-size bet or less unless a hits. if V has 44/K4/94/54 lol at us, remember for next time.

Hero flats pot is $165

River is a 4h
V leads for $100

Is it a leak to flat this based on v being unknown but showing he has a wide range pre? Or is this a snap fold?

Appreciate the help everyone.

This spot seemed very close to a call or fold otr IMO, but glad I asked because most seem to agree with fold in this spot.

I tanked it for a minute or two and folded. V showed 55 for flopped set.

strange villain - I still don't get V's small donk bet otf but it probably saved you some money tbh. hope you got some money back from this guy as the night went on.

702 I was kinda caught off guard when he had shown 55 as well as generally Vs seem to donk bet top pair. Otr I just kinda had a gross feeling and went with it (luckily he showed).

V ended up busting from the game but unfortunately I wasn't able to get anything significant from his stack.

Looks like he has a set or two pair. I'd fold this, because it was played kind of weird. A weirdly played hand is either a bluff or a monster. Most of the time it is a monster though so you should fold.
