First I want to start off by explaining that I play in a casino that uses a French deck. In a French deck, a King is R, Queen is D, Jack is V.
I don't do this very often but I realized that I misread my hand, thinking that I was dealt AJ but was really dealt AQ.
OTTH.
Villain is a sticky fish, limp calling pretty much every hand. Saw a showdown where he checked called twice with mp on scary board. He sits with $250 and I have him outchipped.
Hero dealth AQh (however, I thought at the time I had AJ)
Villain utg limps, hero in MP raises to $15, folds to villain who calls.
Flop ($33): 4s Ah Kh
Villain checks, I bet $20, villain calls
Turn ($73): Qs
Villain checks
Now, here is where I would have bet if I had not misread my hand. I checked behind.
River ($73): Js
Villain leads $50
Hero at this point looks back at his hand, and realizes he had misread his hand - action on us: ??
Results: I flatted and he turns over K10. I thought I made the right play, and happy to see others would have done the same. Thought I was still ahead of a ton.
As for if I had AJ - surprised to see some would fire another bullet on the turn. If I did indeed have AJ, I see alot of value for the check on the turn as KQ, J10 got there. I would have put in another bet on riv if it was safe.
