Hero is playing pretty tight. V is early 20's white guy. Bought in for 50BBs, asking stupid questions about rake and casino rules. Haven't seen him show down, not playing too out of line.

Effective stacks $180

Hero has J2o in the BB. Limps 8 ways hero checks.

Flop ($12): KT2

checks around

Turn ($12): KT22

Hero bets $5, 3 calls, V raises to $40, Hero?

Pot is now $70 with $140 effective behind.

I'm guessing by the action that v is in LP? Generally, I'm calling here but c/f river unless I bink boat/quads.

V has some boats in his range, but he obv never has KK and almost never TT in a multi-way limped pot. Kd2d is possible and maybe he's even bad enough for Td2d. Most of his range is other trips or weak TP that now thinks 2p is good, with a little total spazz as well.

Most of that range will check back river from a standard player after you show the strength of calling turn, so if he bets again, I can find a fold. Occasionally, he'll fire worse trips or even 2p OTR, but usually it would be trips with an ace kicker or a boat, imo.

Yeah V is in LP sorry.

Spoiler:
I called the raise. River is 8, hero checks and V bets $25.

Well that tiny bet is effectively the same as a check. It really eliminates nothing except complete spazz from his range.

If I had less SDV, I'd consider turning my hand in to a bluff, which I'll often do if a V's sizing is same-bet or less. With strong SDV though, I call here. After all, we only have to be good 21% of the time. Plus we'll be able to get a better read on V with a call that makes him show what he took such a weird line with.

Thanks for your analysis. I called the tiny riv bet and he had A2. Just wondering if I could ever get away from the flop raise. Pretty strong raise into 4 callers. Even though KK and TT are very unlikely, I put him in A2 pretty quickly and still paid him.

It's a weird spot. Villain kind of has to have a 2 when he raises turn. Other 2s are 32 42s 52s A2 K2s Q2s. I don't think you can fold the turn because V has slightly more 2X that's behind than he has that is ahead.

Having said that I really hate losing a big pot when I got limped to in the BB and am forced to play some total junk. Last time this happened I flopped top pair, FD and gutshot with T6s on T87, inadvertently gii for 40bb vs a short stack limper with T8 and bricked my draws.

It annoys the piss out of me me because I had no intention of playing the damned hand in the first place!
