Hero has just turned 21 and has been grinding 10nl online for 6 months preparing for live casino games. I look like a complete noob because I can't count chips very fluently like the rest of the people at the tables. 3 hands into 1st 1/2 session hero in SB with effective stack of 200 no reads on Villain except he's in his 20s and has the sunglasses hoodie combo going on.
Folds to button who raises to 12$
Hero looks down a KcKs: makes it 40$
Button calls
Flop: Qh 5d 6c
Hero: leads for 50$
Villain: raises All In
How often am I going to be going up against sets here? I feel like he can never have AA as I assume he's 4! pre and probably 4! QQ as well. I'm getting roughly 2:1 on the call. Is he ever going to be overplaying his hand with AQ or KQ against a complete unknown such as myself? The only bluffs he has in his range is 87s.
Don't discount AA/QQ entirely, stack sizes remove most of the reasons for a reraise with those hands. Don't discount total bluffs entirely, you will see some pretty stupid bluffs occasionally.
The basic principle here is that the pot is around $80 and you have $160 left. With an SPR of 2 you are entirely pot committed with an over pair. Your not always going to be winning but this is the sort of situation that you bring multiple buyins for.
Ended up snap calling cause I was on a little bit of tilt after bubbling a tournament that day and villain turned over 8d7d board ran out clean and I scooped.
