Hero ($460) especially aggressive in recent orbit and in the previous hand showed down a thin river value bet hand

V1 (covers) kind of loose but not overly so, aggressive

Hero has K K utg

open to 10, utg+1 calls, V1 3-bets to 30 in CO. SB cold calls 30, Hero 4-bets to 120. utg+1 folds, V1 calls 120, SB folds

Flop (280) Q Q 9

Hero down-bets 60, V1 raises to 160. Hero jams in for 340 total, V1 thinks for about a minute and calls with A K

Turn Q River A V1 wins with QQQAA

was just wondering if the flop action is appropriate considering how much I had behind

Preflight your sizing should be bigger about $15-20. 4 Bet could’ve been about 160 as well. And lastly what was the purpose of the down bet out of position? I think here if villain is loose you want to bet larger to deny equity. Because there aren’t that many combinations of Qx hands that play this way and you already know that he doesn’t have AA as he would’ve shove pre.

Please don't post results until 24 hours after posting thread and by using spoiler tags.

With that being said, pre I think was perfectly fine in all aspects. I like the open size and the 3! size.

On the flop, what were you exactly trying to accomplish by betting out $60 into a $280 pot AFTER 3 betting to $120? You showed a LOT of strength pre flop by opening UTG and then 3 betting. That $60 bet looks really weak. As played pre, I would have lead out for $180.

After villain flop raises to $160, it's a very easy decision to jam all in.

Preflop: I like it. I'm happy with the sizing too.

Preflop: for the initial raise 12-15 seems more standard for 1/2 live. With 3 other players still in the hand and $460 effective stacks, I like 4-betting to a size which is more likely to induce a shove preflop maybe $140.

Flop: Once we achieve an SPR of close to 1:1 with 280 in the pot and 340 left in stacks we're committed to stacking off on this flop. Bet an amount that might induce a shove. 80 into 280 feels about right.

With a stack of 460 and 3 others in the hand there's not really a 4-bet size that will create an stack-to-pot ratio which will allow for much sensible post-flop play (we'll only have a pot sized bet left). So may as well size up a little and try to force them to either shove or fold preflop.

We don't need to bet big to get stacks in on the river. I probably go 1/3 pot here which will get called by a wide range of hands and will sometimes fold out hands that will have equity against us. Congrats on your sizing inducing him to spazz though, bad luck in terms of results.

Crappy result agreed, but I don't see anything terrible other than raising slightly more PF and ripping it on the flop...they still arent folding...
