Hero is a 23 yo white guy at a loose passive 1-2 table and has been for 4hrs. He has about 300$

Villain is a middle aged white guy. He has about 1k in front of him, he has established an open raise size of 8$ for his entire range from any position. Overall, he has been opening wider than most players at the table, and has not folded to any 3-bets. That being said, villain has not 4-bet at all, and has only 3-bet once himself since we've been at the table. We did not see his holdings

Hero has the most frequent 3-bets at the table, which isn't saying much, but has shown that both 99 and AQ are in his 3-bet range.

Villain opens to 8$ from MP, CO and Button call.

Hero wakes up with KK in the small blind, he makes it 46$

Folds to Villain who makes it 146$ (Max bet of 100$ in this casino)

Folds back around to Hero.

Hero??

Flat or max raise both fine. Folding is ebola. Basically never folding KK pre less than 150BBs deep, and given dynamic described not folding it at 150BBs in this case either.

Folding is ebola unless you have Johnny Chan's reading skillz! He folded KK twice the 1st day of a Main Event [5-7 years ago I think] & rec player shows AA both times.

If V's range is KK+/AK it's a coin-flip. If it includes QQ, you have 57% equity & tie 5% of that.

Keep in mind that Garick's bankroll is fatter than a pig on slaughter day & he's an officer in the military, making FAT STACKS!

Absent any soul read, I'm raising.

None of us are Chan because we are playing 1/2. Never ever folding. And V knows you have a wider than ave 3bet range.

Max raise is best.

We need 41% equity to justify getting it in here, given we have zero fold equity, we're already in for $46, we're $300 deep effectively and there's a tiny bit of dead money in the pot.

I'm going to start with 2 possible ranges:
"Aggro" 4betting range = {QQ+, AK}
"Passive" 4betting range = {KK+}

Given that we're unsure whether villain 4bets QQ or AK, the best approach is to put "weights" on those hands. For simplicity, I'm going to put a 50% weight on QQ and AK, whereas I'm going to put a 100% weight on KK and AA. Barring any reads, I think that this is what I'd typically expect an average $1/$2 live player's 4betting range to be:
50% weight on QQ = 3 combos = 3 x 80%
50% weight on AK = 4 combos = 4 x 67%
100% weight on KK = 1 combo = 1 x 50%
100% weight on AA = 6 combos = 6 x 20%
Total combos = 14
Total equity against range = (3*0.8 + 4*0.67 + 1*0.5 + 6*0.2) / 14 = 48% equity

So in conclusion, we have 48% equity and we need 41% equity or more to justify getting it in, therefore, I'm going to be 5bet jamming this.

This is a good approach. Bear in mind that there are 16 combos of AK, but you block half of them, which is why 6bet gives 4 available for betting. 8 more exist, and we estimate he could raise with half of them.
