Hero - Tricky TAG, stack ~500.
Villain - seems rather solid, a little tricky as well. Saw him c-raise the turn with a flush draw and a gutshot. Hit his flush on the river and won a nice pot. Stack ~400.

Villain limps $2 UTG
Hero in MP with KK makes it $12
BB calls $12
UTG calls $12

Flop: J-8-3 rainbow. Pot($37)

BB checks, UTG bets $18, I raise to $40, BB folds. UTG re-raises to $85

Hero?

I was thinking my raise on the flop was a mistake, should have just called to keep the pot small. Only 10-9 for an oesd and some gutshots for draws, not many overcards can hurt us. If he has top pair with a jack we're ahead.

Agree with bolded, especially IP. Not a lot of turn cards hurt our hand so use your position (and a strong flop call) to get more info on the turn.

This line absolutely screams 33 88 or air. For it to be anything else he has to limp call AJ or J8 from UTG and want to play for 200BB stacks with tptk or top two. I think the raise is fine because there are probably a fair amount of combos of jacks in his limp calling range but once he goes donk/3! on a super dry board I'm scared, especially when so deep. Not sure if I could bring my self to fold on the spot but I think I'm folding to ~100% of turn bets so maybe should just fold the the flop and wait for a better spot.

Tough spot.

Your range looks like QQ+, yet opponent lead flop, then min-3bet. There are 4 combos of T9s while there are 6 of 88/33, maybe a couple more of J8s. I'd exclude JJ based on descript.

Even though odds of calling are tempting, he is first to act OTT. Tough fold.

Yes, flat flop, no need to protect this texture with a raise. Even JX may fold, something u don't want.
