Hero (350) is at the table for 30min. Only hand I showed was A9s on Axxr K X where I bet checked flop 5 way. Bet 25 turn and 50 on river and got called and V mucked. (This V is neither one in the hand)

V1. BTN (230). 40ish man. Pretty loose passive from what ive seen so far.

V2. BB (300). 25ish guy. He knows poker. He is aware of position and range, he opens a lot in position preflop. We are at his direct left tho so its nice.

OTTH:

Hero UTG raises to $10 with J[1-2] JJ UTG line check️J[1-2] JJ UTG line check️, CO calls, V1 (BTN) calls. V2 (BB) calls.

Flop ($37, 4 players): 8[1-2] JJ UTG line check️9[1-2] JJ UTG line check️3[1-2] JJ UTG line check
V2 (BB) checks, Hero bets $35, CO folds, V1 (BTN) calls.

Turn ($134, 3 players): T[1-2] JJ UTG line check
V2 (BB) checks, Hero checks, V1 (BTN) checks

I didnt feel like betting this turn was good. I wasnt able to find hand that calls us that we beat so I decided to check. Except a FD but I dont think I have a lot of fold equity here and I don't want to get raise and have to fold... we have good showdown value.

River ($134, 3 players): 8[1-2] JJ UTG line check
V2 (BB) checks, Hero checks, V1 (BTN) bets $50, V2 (BB) tanks and finally fold, Hero calls.

Any comments on my line? Do you bet turn? How much? Why?

As played do you bet river small for value?

Opinions on all streets appreciated.

I like the line. JJ block tons of straights so I could see valuing up on the river to ~$85-90.

I'm never checking that turn. You probably have the best hand with a redraw to a better one, but the board is draw heavy. This is not the spot to pot control. Club draws, Q9/QT/JT/A9 can all call you. I'm betting $75 on the turn, no free cards here. If I did check the turn, I'm firing $75 on the river.

I don't hate the turn check. If you're a fan of Ed Miller's The Course, JJ is a hand with which you're going to get a maximum of two streets of value on that board.

IMHO the plan for the hand is to bet the flop (not sure what to do if raised on the flop but that can be another post), hope for a blank on the turn and bet the turn if one comes, otherwise check the turn and re-evaluate on the river.

IMHO the 8 on the river is a blank. If he has trip 8s, more power to him, that's a hard hand to have. Since you appear to have few reads on the LP villain, my default is to use his betsize as a tell. A small river bet there usually means "I don't like my hand enough to bet more" so it's a call. You only have to have the best hand here about 35% of the time for it to show a profit and I expect to see a hand like AT or KT at least 35% of the time.

Hope that helped.

Not sure effective stax are big enough to b/f the turn here. We bet say 1/2 pot ($75), if either player shoves, we will be getting a minimum of ~2.5-1 to call a shove which I don't think we can fold to given our blockers/equity. So, I like the turn check for that reason (deeper, I do think it is a b/f).
