Hero 380$ 1/2 live 6 handed

JJ in CO

Btn straddle 4$

Sb folds, bb raise to 15$, mp call, hero raise to 60$, btn and bb fold, mp makes a speech about how he knows I have JJ or TT here. I wouldnt do this with AA or KK. He knows I'm just protecting myself here. Finally ends up calling.

I have no real reads except I havent seen him spew, seems to play straight forward.

Flop AK8r
Mp checks, hero?

Check and ready to fold to a turn bet unless a J hit

I'd 3b bigger (Not just with JJ). Folds are good. More money in with a better hand is also good. When you make it a little less than pot they're not really making an immediate mistake calling with Ax/Kx/whatever hand with 30-50% equity here, and you can't abuse them postflop too much if both players end up calling either.

70 or 75 feels right.

ap just c/f, put your opponent on a range after call/calling and try to think how much of it hits this flop. Especially the ace. Virtually all hands you beat here will be smaller pocket pairs, which I don't expect most players to turn into a bluff anyway.

You have to check the flop and see what he does on the turn.

Most of the time, he has an ace or a medium pocket pair. So you're either way ahead or way behind. So check and eliminate a street of betting.

Hero checks back flop

Turn is a T

Villain checks, hero checks

I feel maybe I could bet here since I picked up more outs but I still feel way behind. Not sure how i can represent an A here since I checked the flop and I'd prob cbet all Ax hands. If I bet it prob looks like a K or worse at this point. Maybe I hit with TT or I actually had AA/KK/AK and was slow playing. Which if he has nothing he will fold but what hands could he have that get there on the river?

River was a brick low card
Villain checks and hero decides to just check back. A bet really didnt make sense now imo. I think I butchered the hand but idk.

Villain had KsQs.

He said that if I bet the flop he was shoving anyway because As was on the board and he had a chance for the royal flush promotion lol 500$. He said he already didnt put me on an A from preflop so he wasnt worried about it.

Who knows if this is actually true though

Your equity has only increased very slightly from the flop to the turn vs many of the holding you are behind (by 3% vs 88 or A2 for example). Vs his specific hand your equity has actually decreased slightly.

Nope, you played it fine. All that happened was you lost a flip for the minimum after a terrible board runout for your hand. You should mostly be playing a value based strategy and given the runout there was not much value to be had here. Good job.

Ya looks standard.

KQs guy actually has no clue about your range beyond "good hands" here so I wouldn't worry too much that he called your hand. Unless you actually do have sizing tells.
