This was over the weekend, at a charity poker room. 7 handed. First hand of the night for everybody.

Both villains in this hand seem to be friends or at least familiar with eachother. I have no history with anybody at the table.

One limper
Hero ($200) has Jd Js and raised to 12 from 2 off the button
Villain 1 (covers hero) calls on button
Villain 2 (also covers) calls from SB.
All else folds

Flop (~$40)
Ad 9d 2c

Checked to Hero, who bets $25
Button calls, SB folds

Turn (~$90)
6d

Hero checks (mistake?)
Button quickly bets $100
Hero?

Thoughts on all streets please

First hand of the night + A on board + oop = check/fold flop.

You got multiple callers preflop, just give up on an ace high flop.

Heads up I like the c-bet but against 2 unknowns it's just not worth it.

If you're going to bet the flop bet the turn again to try and get someone off an ace. Problem is you have no idea if you can since it's the first hand, you don't know how loose players are. So from this perspective since you can't profitably bet the turn don't bet the flop.

As played you don't have the odds to call for the flush, plus they may already have you beat with KQdd, QJdd or KJdd. I don't see someone betting Ax on the turn unless they made 2 pair. Just best to fold.

Very standard c-bet 3-way on two tone Axx. Good sizing.

Check/fold turn.

I ended up check folding the turn.

To those advocating check folding flop, what's the plan if its checked through?

Give up completely?
Check call reasonable turn and/or river bets?
Leading the turn if checked to?

I don't think you should check-fold flop - button could bet here with a hand like 89. I prefer a check/call, keeping button's range wide. On the turn we can check-fold to a large bet.

I'd be inclined to fold turn if sb leads, but would probably check/call against BTN (assuming sb folds in front of you) most of the time. BTN would likely bet an A on the flop, and probably some or most flush draws. SB can still have Ax in his range going to the turn given that checking is super standard on the flop for him.

Betting the turn unimproved doesn't likely accomplish much other than to end the hand. If the turn checks through, I'd be happy to take my showdown value/ call one bet on the river

??

Any ace beats you and a flush beats you.

If V was just using the flush as a scare card to get you off of your hand, so be it. But no need to call here.
