Villain, (325) Sat down two orbits ago. Has played 80 percent of hands. Has raised most of them. Aggro lag. Saw him re raise a guys 12 to 40, cbet a dry K high flop of 55, 80 on blank turn and showed Q3 for air. I played one hand against him where he raised from SB to 12. I flop bottom pair with 57. I call his cbet, We check it down and we both have bottom pair but my 7 out kicks him. He comments that he knew he should have bet the turn.

Hero(310)

Hero in SB, villain in BB. Five limpers,I complete, villain raises to 12, three callers, I call with 34ss, (i know, fold pre).

Flop (58) 3d 5s 6h
I check, villain bets 35, everyone folds back to me. I feel like he can do this with over cards, over pairs, any 3x, 5x, 6x hands, two pair, sets. Hero calls 35.

Turn (128) 2s
Hit the straight and now have flush draw. I want to let him keep betting at me so I check. (Is this optimal?) He bets 35 again, hero?

He kept betting hard when he had had air or average hands. I don't want to scare him off but the flush card can kill my action and his bet sizing seemed odd to me. What is the best play here?

I'd raise the turn to about $90 to set up a river shove.

I like this, but what sizing? Do we keep it small to look like a blocker bet vs. the LAG and induce bluffs? Or do we bet bigger for value and risk folding the bottom half of his range?

Fold preflop. Playing hands that are going to flop low good hands OOP is ugly against a maniac because your forced to fly blind when you hit.

Without knowing how he reacts to donk bets, turn is a toss up between leading $70 or check/raising. As played, I would shove turn. The same bet on turn is often a tell that villain is drawing but you don't know what cards are bad. In position I like $90 here but OOP I would rather just get it in now.

I didn't want to lead the turn because he seemed to be very happy betting at pot after pot when checked to.

I do raise it to 95, he insta goes all in, almost beating me into the pot.

Given your reads, it's a call. Sure he can have 47 but A4 is more likely anyway -- and even if we are losing to 47 we have flush outs. He also does this with 2pr, sets, and complete air. Easy call imo.

You have to call turn. Not pretty, but against a maniac you can't fold. This is exactly why playing low draws against a maniac is painful. When he shoves he is probably winning or drawing to win, but the draws are too likely to give up a made hand. A typical maniac could have a straight draw, flush draw, combo draw, set, two pair and possibly even worst. If he does have a straight, it is at least equally likely your ahead as behind. That is just too many hands you beat to give up a made hand.
