1/2 Flopped low end of a straight, facing a 3bet from a weak player, wtf do I do? 1/2 Flopped low end of a straight, facing a 3bet from a weak player, wtf do I do?

Kind of a gross situation. Villain is probably in his mid 50's, old blue collar white guy who plays loose and weak and passively most of the time.

I'm on the button with 45. Both of us have about $350 in front of us. It's a limped pot with like 5 people, including villain who's directly to my right.

Flop is 678.

With about $10 in the pot, it checks around to me, I bet $10. Folds around to the hijack who calls, and then villain raises to $35. I'm a little perplexed by this, but I've got a straight, so I raise to $115. Hijack thinks about this, and then calls! Villain thinks briefly, and then shoves for $350.

I was not expecting that. There are plenty of hands a normal player might do this with. Maybe even something as low as an overpair, though I doubt it. But this player does not strike me as having a $350 shove with an overpair in his repertoire. He's very weak and loose. He's the calling type IMO, not the shoving type. There's only two hands he has that are beating me here. I could see him doing this with a set maybe, I don't see it with a pair and a flush draw, though it's possible I've misjudged him. Two pair? Ehh, I don't know.

Sick situation, and I'm not sure what to do with the idiot end of the straight, but I'm starting to realize why they call it that.

Call or fold? Are we throwing up either way?

You should have checked and fold to his bet. Yes, you got a straight with which to lose whole your stack. I'm folding at least twice per day the low end of straights.

Don't even pay attention or consider you've got a straight. What you got is a hand that could make your stack disappear. So, just fold your "napkins" and get it over to the next hand. Why get so attached to a hand like that?

I never attempt to draw to the low end. If I got there by accident and I'm facing too much action I just forget about and trow the goddamned in the muck. I just consider that I didn't even got a hand or any kind of cards.

Fold. Don't go broke in a limped pot without the nuts.

Even if just one of your villains only had a flush draw, your equity is only about 62%.

With that much action, you're up against 2P+ from your Villain, and possibly the top of the straight with backup clubs from HJ.

I'm guessing you're drawing dead.

Turbo muck.

BTW -- I like your sizing to $115. Pot was $65 at the time. I think you can feel great about your fold since your sizing is good.

Against a better player, I'd put him on a combo draw. Against this player, he either has a made straight, set or NFD. The 3rd player in the hand also likely has one of these as well.

You have another player to act behind you who has just called your raise.

While there is nothing wrong with your line, I think I might have opted to call the 35 and try to get to showdown cheaply. If the turn card was bad or aggression continued, I could let it go knowing i'm behind most of the time.

Summary: There is no way you have the odds to go for this. Fold.
