Kind of a gross situation. Villain is probably in his mid 50's, old blue collar white guy who plays loose and weak and passively most of the time.
I'm on the button with 4
5
. Both of us have about $350 in front of us. It's a limped pot with like 5 people, including villain who's directly to my right.
Flop is 6
7
8
.
With about $10 in the pot, it checks around to me, I bet $10. Folds around to the hijack who calls, and then villain raises to $35. I'm a little perplexed by this, but I've got a straight, so I raise to $115. Hijack thinks about this, and then calls! Villain thinks briefly, and then shoves for $350.
I was not expecting that. There are plenty of hands a normal player might do this with. Maybe even something as low as an overpair, though I doubt it. But this player does not strike me as having a $350 shove with an overpair in his repertoire. He's very weak and loose. He's the calling type IMO, not the shoving type. There's only two hands he has that are beating me here. I could see him doing this with a set maybe, I don't see it with a pair and a flush draw, though it's possible I've misjudged him. Two pair? Ehh, I don't know.
Sick situation, and I'm not sure what to do with the idiot end of the straight, but I'm starting to realize why they call it that.
Call or fold? Are we throwing up either way?
