1/2 game only been playing about an hour so not many reads on villains

V1: UTG, +2 Middle aged man in his 50s. Have played with him before once and am pretty sure he is a pretty incompetent player. Doesn't think much and just plays his cards. Stack ~350

V2: SB, Young asian guy who doesn't speak English very well. Has been short stacked entire hour I've been at the table. Limp folding a lot of flops. Stack ~70

Hero: Stack ~230 looks down at 9 7 in the BB. Checks option and 5 players see flop.

Flop($10): Q 9 7

V2 checks, Hero bets $10, V1 raises to $20, V2 calls.

I'm guessing V1 has 2p+ almost always and it looks like the Asian is just trying to get his stack in by the river.

I am puke folding here and looking for a better spot especially at 1/2.

Maybe this is way too nitty? Interested to see what everyone else thinks

The minraise is weighted heavier towards big Qx rather than 2p+. The short stack over caller probably has a draw/Qx. Might reraise to $70-$85 to charge draws but I'd rather do it with top two than bottom two in a limped pot because there are too many ugly turn and river cards for us. We might even get counterfeited against something like AQ/KQ.

Prefer to play this more cautiously and check/evaluate oldie's turn bet.

I could easily go both ways on this one. BB specials in limped pots = go broke. I hate limped pots, hate em!! That being said, V1's frequently raise with TP. V2 is drawing, I think he shoves with anything better than you. I had this exact situation last night, but with top two, so that made it easier. In real time, I'll call instead of raise and see how much V1 likes his hand, cuz I'm nitty.

Mine was MA Black dude raiser, MA Asian caller. So pretty close lol

I did briefly consider folding, but ended up not giving V1 credit for 2p or a set and ended up raising to $75. V1 calls, V2 calls all in for $65 total.

Turn (200 main pot, 20 side pot) 2
Board is now Q 9 7 2

Hero: Checks, V1 bets 40

I figure one of them probably had a spade draw but $40 with $220 in the pot is such a small bet.

Usually, even more so against incompetent players as you describe V, the betting pattern on the flop is, small raises on drawy boards are TP type hands and large raises are "protection" raises with sets/2 pair. I would lean towards this villain's flop range to be a Q mostly. With that said after 3 betting the flop I am basically betting any non queen turn.

I would probably bet in the $130 range, as anything less gives villain a reasonable price with QXs hands, since you only have ~150 left on the turn I would just ship the turn.

As played, I would ship it over his bet of $40, someone who "doesn't think much and plays his cards" this seems like, "I have a queen, the biggest pair, that's worth $40" even though the pot is $220. Can explain his flop call too, well I call I have the biggest pair, and even might justify calling your ship on the turn if he is "pretty incompetent" as you describe.

In a spot like this when 3 betting the flop be sure you have a plan for the turn first. There are only so many turn card categories, basically from best to worse, 7/9, off suit 2-6, off suit TJKA, 8, spade, queen.
My plan would be to bet all of them except the queen due to villain's description and betting pattern.

That's overplaying your hand. Call or fold is better.
