9 handed table at the time, Hero has been at the table a few hours. Just got felted a few orbits ago (got J T all in on on the flop of J T 8 against K J.... King hits river). On my second buy-in now but not sure if Villain was at the table to know that or not, so I could or could not look spewey to Villain at the time. Hero has stack of about $380

Villain is a mid-30's female who looks like a recreational player. No reads because she is fairly new to the table. She is the effective stack of about $250

---THE HAND---

Folds to Villain in MP villain raises to $12, MP calls $12, Button calls $12, SB folds, Hero in the BB has

5 6

Hero in BB calls $12

---FLOP--- ($45 in pot after rake)

8 7 4

Hero checks, Villain bets $17 , MP calls $17, Button folds, Hero Raises to $65, Villain calls (has about $175 behind) MP folds

---TURN--- ($191 in pot after rake)

6

Hero???

A very ugly card! Villain has less than a pot sized bet left and we are in this spot.... Do we.......

A)Bet small relative to the size of the pot and still find a fold if raised all in?

B)Bet small and call a raise to help catch all/any over played sets

C)Bet all-in hoping to get hero called by sets

D)Check/Call

E) Check/Fold

After really thinking about it and even though it may seem super super weak I think the best play might just be to check/fold, but I'm listening. I'm looking for others input on these situations where you flop the nuts but cant improve.

Ck-r too small. 95 then shove all turns (including this one). AP just shove and let her deal with it, she doesn't have to have a flush and still has some worse hands that might call. It would've been much more tidy had you left far less eff stack in play.

yeah immediately after making the raise I felt like it was too small as well. Although I was thinking closer to $85

C/R on flop needs to be bigger, but can't imagine any scenario where I'm getting away from this OTT with her having < PSB.

As played I'm going all in here, you beat overpairs, sets, and if she has a flush so be it...

I think we can agree that if she does have a flush and has you beat - that's just fate and not worry about it. I'd be much more inclined to think that she has an overpair based on the pf betting and the call otf. So given that her OP could have a FD or not - how best to approach it?

Def. not check/fold. She could easily shove AA or KK with a spade.
Checking in general gives her a potential free card with a hand like TxTs... so I don't like that.
I'd be inclined to bet enough to entice a call without giving her proper odds. If she has a spade - she's about 20% to hit it... so you want to bet about half pot. I know it leaves an awkward amount in her stack...
