Taking a break from chess to focus more on poker. Typical Saturday afternoon 1-2 game, with loose-passives and Taggish older men. Effective stacks approx. $250. Villain has only been at the table for a couple of orbits and hasn't done anything noteworthy.

One limper to me in MP and I call with A 4. Somewhat loose, but the table had been playing pretty passively PF. A few more callers, 6 to the flop.

8 6 8 ($12)

Checked around

8 6 8 2 ($12)

Check to me, I bet $10, all fold to the BB who calls

8 6 8 2 Q ($32)

BB donks out for $50

Hero...?

I wouldn't call overlimping in MP A4s loose at all. Id call it standard.

Im not raising the river and Im not folding either, so obviously I'm calling. If he has a boat good for him. I think he has an 8 most of the time.

Call river.
He has some worse flushes, some 8x, and some boats. But you're good here the 40% of the time that you need to be.

OK, so I guess this was super standard...

Spoiler:
I called...Villain showed 8 6 for the BB special, flopped boat.
