V ($300): 25ish chubby Asian who seems a bit nerdy. Plays pretty tight passive and his bet sizing has seemed to indicate the strength of his hand. With smaller bets he has folded to raises or shown down middle pair type of hands. When he made a boat on the river, he made a big bet.

Hero ($850): 30ish WG, has been pretty active at this point. Definitely raising more than anyone one at the table. About 45 mins ago, flopped top set on flop, c-bet it, and called a check-shove for $300 against a looser player who had bottom 2. Since then taken a decent amount of pots down w/o shodown.

Two limpers, Hero makes it $15 w/ AJ. V calls in SB, one of limpers also calls (limper was pretty average tight passive player).

Flop ($45): 68J. V leads $45. Limper folds. Hero??

This just seemed way out of character for this V. I'm ranging him on KJ/AJ, 2 pair, and really strong combo draws. I think he would have played a set slower, but I'm very confused at this point. Is this the kind of range you would expect??

The most obvious thought is just to call IP? But what's the plan on different types of turn cards with different types of bets by V?

Given the read, fold. You say his bet size correlates with the strength of his hand, so best case you are facing a draw that may have more equity than you, so just give it to him this time.

Agree with all of this.

I think you should honor your read. If you're paying attention at the table and picking up player tendencies like this, I think you ought to use them. If he shocks you with a face-up bluff or something, adjust your read....until then, use the information you've gathered.

Just fold.
