1/2 game at local casino, fairly soft table with a couple of competent players. Been here for 2 hours or so, hero's image is somewhat TAG although I have been alot more active in this session then usual, winning lots of smaller pots without showdown. Recently rebought after getting stacked straight over straight.

Villain 1 (310) : White guy low 20's, regular, seems knowledgable about the game, plays fairly solid but also likes to mix it up and switch gears.

Villain 2 (400): Middle aged asian guy, also a regular, very wide range, plays his draws fast, have seen him showdown all sorts of suited and even unsuited junk, alot of limp calling p/f.

Also the BBJ is currently 6 figures at this poker room so a ton of a suited gappers/connectors trying to see the flop.

Hero $165 with 8 9

Hand:
2 limps in EP in front of V2 in MP who also limps, I limp behind on the button, V1 raises to $11 from the SB, 2 EP limpers fold, V2 calls, I call for $9 more.

Flop (39$): 8 9 K

V1 checks, V2 bets 35$, Hero???

Thoughts please

1. Top off your stack. What if this is a 3way all in and you miss out on $70 in this hand? Topping off is an often overlooked difference between crushers and winners, or winners and losers.

2. Raise pre yourself. Brute force the pot post if need be.

3. If we jam, it will only be ~119 more to him into a pot of 228. Let it rip. We lose to exactly 17combos at this point (88, 99, K8, K9, KK.) We block his 88 & 99, doubt he limp calls with KK. So, with 6 K9 realistic combos we're behind here, and he plays draws fast, just put all your chips in now.

4. Hold!!!!

Edit..at 1st auto correct had it at 517 combos we lose to, lol.

s-h-o-v-e due to stacks. Clearly it's a raise, and any other bet size just leaves a tiny amount for the turn.

ya i agree with rumor, just stick it in and hope he has KX and thinks youre pushing with a draw.. stack sizes are too weird to raise and then put the little rest in on the turn

Thanks for the feedback guys, I did shove as played for the reasons alot of you stated above, any less of a raise and I would have been left with an extremely awkward SPR. However I guess the question I was more asking was how worried should we be about V1 in this spot?

why would you be worried about V1? is his check suspicious and your worried about KKs? if that is the case there is nothing you can do about it with stack sizes and all the money is going in anyway

This is perfect. Everything you need to know about this hand is written above me.

I did think V1's check was extremely suspicious as I had expected him to c-bet almost 100% of his range, although how considerate do we have to be of that?

I also agree with the points Hand Shaker has listed, especially the 1st point about topping off stacks... far too overlooked.
