sands pa, 1-2

hero gets to casino on sunday morning and sits at 9:30am hoping to catch some gamblers still playing over night. V1 is sitting directly to my left and fits the desired description the best. this is my second hand after sitting down. critiques on all street appreciated.

V1 ($400) UTG: real young. wearing a hoodie. looking tough. 2 dealers said good morning to him by name so he's a reg. he can barely keep his eyes open. i ask if he's been playing long and he says he started at midnight. i start by giving him a stereo-typed lag profile but no hands to go by yet.

V2 ($73) UTG+2: middle-aged asian. i start by giving him a stereo-typed flush chasing + top pair committing profile.

hero ($300) BB: 35 year old just sat down.

hand: 6 players limp, SB completes, hero checks BB with 35

flop ($14): T53

checks to V2 who bets 10. 2 callers. hero check-raises to 50. V1 check-calls 50. V2 shoves. hero and V1 call the additional $23.

i was trying to represent a flush draw and get a call from a weak T. i assumed V2 was on a flush draw. was hoping V1 had a weak T.

turn ($249): 8

hero bets $85 into empty side pot. V1 tanks for a solid 2 minutes then shoves. hero has $140 left.

hero?

results in spoiler

Spoiler:

i get an uh-oh feeling and mumble something about hoping that wasn't a hollywood-ed set and call off my remaining $140. the $85 i lead out with was for value.

river ($529): J

V2 immediately mucks his obviously missed low flush. V1 looks at me nervous and says "you have a set right? that's the only hand that makes sense and would lead out into that turn" i tell him no and that i have bottom 2 pair. he turns over 103 for a better 2 pair.

should i have been pushing this pot with bottom 2 in a limped pot? i was certainly given the opportunity to keep the pot smaller.

started the day down a buy-in which always sucks.

I know you do not really want to let flush and straights get there, but I do not really like the check raise line since it has a good chance of folding out top pair type hands. I would prefer either leading out or just check calling, then re-evaluate on turn.

yeah. i probably had a case of fancy play syndrome here. not sure leading out would have changed end result though... but might have kept pot smaller.

should i ever be going broke in a limped pot with bottom two?

Check raise is dumb. Just pot, pot, pot if you get raised reeval and probably fold
