Been at the table an hour. Plenty of fish, 2/3 regs. I'm LAG, doing the drunk tourist act to perfection. Villain is reg, TAG played with him about an hour. Never stepped out of line. I have $200, Villain won around $100 (200 buy in).

UTG calls $2
UTG+1 calls $2
Villain calls $2
MP calls $2
CO folds
HJ calls $2
Hero calls $2 with 10c8c
Sb calls $1
BB checks

Flop:

Jx 9x 7c (rainbow)

Checks round to Villain who bets $6. I raise to $20. Everyone folds Villain calls.

Turn

Jc

Villain snap checks. Pot $56. I bet $29. Villain calls.

River

Kx

Villain Snap checks (I was expecting a bet. The only hand I can really beat is AJ maybe QJ. Some J10.

Hero...????

Not claiming to be right, but wouldnt this be a good spot for value with a b/f of around 60-65. I can see AJ and J10, J8s as possible early pos. limps for villain as well as AA and QQ that is letting the "drunk tourist" spew after he missed his chance to limp/reraise. Possibly even TT.

Bet more on the turn.

If you bet ~$40 it would have left you with a psb on the river and you could easily shove for value, expecting to get called by all his Jx's.

as played
I think checking is giving up way to much value because your getting called by Jx virtually always.

you mentioned that he never gets out of line. I guess he would never raise less than a full house in that case, so you could bet small like $50 and fold to a raise if you really hate the run out and his mannerisms(quick check) that much.

I don't really like this.

I'd probably bet more like $75 because Jx makes up so much of his range. I think if your beat its by QT a lot, not full houses.

This is a Bet/ fold spot. Bet more on turn. We lose to much vale from jxx etc by checking.

I also overlimp preflop.

I'd make it ~$30 on the flop (which is offering 2:1, so it's not a huge raise or anything). This also enables us to play for stacks slightly easier by the river.

I kinda follow the don't go broke in a limped pot rule, so I might just check back this turn. It enables us to always get paid off on the river while not losing our whole stack if we are behind.

I think our bet sizing is also a little wack. Did we want to play for stacks by the river with the turn bet? If so, we should bet more so we don't have to make an overshove. As is, we're kinda in a weird spot in that we only have a little over a PSB left so I don't think we can bet/fold (or can we?). Maybe we should have a plan (i.e. "I'm cool with stacking off" therefore bet/shove vs "I'm not cool with stacking off" therefore checking a street).

I lean toward this line of thinking, I don't know why we bet so little on the turn given stacks.

I think this is a good hand to use the overbet.
